Bio: Qualified for the National Handicapping Championship for the second straight year. Earned a total of $6,250 in prize money at NHC V in Jan. 2004, where he finished 10th overall. Recorded the top daily score on day two of NHC V, and was also a member of Arlington Park's third-place team in the team competition. Tournament veteran also won a handicapping tournament at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in December of 1983, collecting $52,000. Also cashed for $37,000 when Lemon Drop Kid won the Belmont Stakes in 1999. Kaplan was introduced to racing by his father, and has now been handicapping for over 45 years. He also enjoys the stock market when he is not handicapping the horses.
