Age: 43 Occupation: Director of operations and process improvements for TGI Friday's USA Division Road to the Finals: Finished first and won $5,000 in the Lone Star Park Handicapping Championship on June 12-13. Bio: Johns is a member of MENSA and certainly outsmarted his competition at Lone Star Park, crushing the field and winning by more than a $100 margin. Has been the recipient of many awards in his career in the Friday's organization including operator of the year. Also once managed the Friday's Front Row Sports Grill at the Ballpark at Arlington, and Bank One Park. First became interested in horse racing at the age of 13 or 14 when he met the track announcer at Ellis Park. His betting strategy is to find live longshots and then bet them to win, a tactic that has paid off for him to the tune of several win tickets in the $1,500 range.
