Zia Park seeks announcer for upcoming meet

Zia Park in Hobbs, N.M., is seeking an announcer for its meet that opens Sept. 10. The track announced the job opening Monday. Zia’s meet will run through Dec. 13.

Tom Harris had called the races at Zia. Interested parties can contact Fred Hutton, the director of racing at Zia.

Zia operates a mixed meet for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses.

Do what Belterra Park in Cincinnati did. Hire some guy off the street that can't put two sentences together and pay him almost nothing.

Hey Steve - not only is it obvious Belterra didn't hold an audition, but I'd also guess he's the reason Belterra isn't seen on TVG or TVG2.  River Downs once was, and this was before slots increased purses and drew better horses.  I live 5 minutes from there, and he is a big reason I won't spend an entire afternoon at this place.

Strange thing is, in a sport/world where there is basically no consensus available even on what seems uncontroversial, I don't know ANYONE that thinks this guy can call a race. He's just terrible.
