Zia Park: Five stakes in row for Premier Dancer

Premier Dance won his fifth straight stakes in the $82,100 Eddy County for 2-year-olds at Zia Park, a race that served as his first start around two turns. He won by a half-length over Wait in Line, and it was another half-length back in third to Might Be Hooked.

Premier Dance ($3.80) and Might Be Hooked dueled throughout the one-mile race, trading the lead through fractions of 24 seconds for the opening quarter-mile, 47.80 for the half-mile, and 1:12.80 for six furlongs. Premier Dance edged clear in the stretch and covered the distance in 1:38.20.

Luis Quinonez was aboard the winner for trainer Cody Autrey.

Premier Dance had won four six-furlong stakes leading up to the Eddy County. His streak started in July, when he won the $75,000 Middleground Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park. From there, he won the $50,000 Minstrel at Louisiana Downs in August, the $100,000 Lafayette at Evangeline Downs in September, and the $56,000 Governor's at Zia in October.

Premier Dance races for Charles Fletcher, and overall has won 6 of 8 starts for $234,380. He is a son of Premiership, and was bred in Florida by the late John Franks.
