Indication N M overtook dueling leaders Estrickator and Ize in Command for a three-quarter length win in the $55,000 Governor’s Cup for 2-year-olds at Zia Park on Sunday. Estrickator, the 4-5 favorite, finished in second, 1 1/2 lengths over Ize in Command.
The race shared a card with the $55,000 Permian Basin won by Winter Book ($6.80).
Indication N M ($20.80) sat in third as Ize in Command and Estrickator dueled through fractions of 22.20 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.14 for the half-mile. Indication N M overtook those two and went on to cover six furlongs on a track rated fast in 1:11.51.
Jockey Alfredo Juarez Jr. was aboard for the partnership of Robert F. Haynsworth and J & SM Inc. Indication N M, who was winning his first stakes Sunday, is trained by Fred Danley. The horse is now 4 for 6 with earnings of $73,145.
In the Permian Basin for 2-year-old fillies, Winter Book remained undefeated in two starts with a 2 1/4-length win over Platinum Song. It was another 4 1/2 lengths back in third to Cowgirl Princess.
Winter Book was always prominent in the six-furlong race, dueling through fractions of 22.06 for the opening quarter and 44.94 for the half-mile, before winning in 1:11.40. Miguel Hernandez was aboard for trainer Henry Dominguez. Winter Book races for Solitaire Stable, Jim Sanders, Marion Sanders, and Lisa Dominguez.
