Zenyatta's blood running hot

The family of 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta is having an active summer in advance of the mare’s Hall of Fame induction on Aug. 12.

One of the mare’s accomplished half-sisters, the stakes winner Where’s Bailey, is the dam of She’s Not Here, who scored a repeat victory in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes on July 16. The mare’s youngest runner, Richmond Street, finished second in a Saratoga maiden special weight race on Saturday. Both of those runners are by Street Cry, the sire of Zenyatta.

Another half-sister, Treasure Trail, is the dam of Long Island Sound, who finished third in the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot. The War Front colt most recently finished sixth, beaten only two lengths, in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby.

Wow..........Where's Bailey is turning out to be quite a broodmare.  I knew about She's Not Here but was unaware of Richmond Street.  So sad that Street Cry has left us.................

I just keep hoping that one of Zenyatta's offspring will inherit some of her talent.  So many mares are never able to come close to replicating themselves and racing would be so deprived if Zenyatta fell into that group.  Fingers crossed for this latest mating with Medaglia d'Oro!
