Zenyatta blog ending on March 13

Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, author of Zenyatta’s “diary” at Zenyatta.com, will put the blog on hiatus after the March 13 post.

Ann and Jerry Moss’s popular 8-year-old mare gave birth to her first foal, a 130-pound Bernardini colt, on March 8. Ingordo-Shirreffs, the Mosses’ racing manager and wife of Zenyatta’s trainer John Shirreffs, said she’s decided to end the diary “because it was full circle of her being a foal and now having a foal.”

“It’s been such an emotional few weeks, you know, and we are so grateful to be at the stage we’re at right now, that Zenny had a beautiful, healthy, lovely, charming colt,” Ingordo-Shirreffs said. “It’s been quite a ride.”

Ingordo-Shirreffs said Zenyatta’s connections haven’t determined yet how they will release any news or updates about the mare and foal, who board at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky.

Thank you for spending so much time keeping us informed I for one will miss the Blog. I have enjoyed keeping tabs on Zenny and now her prince. Please post something every couple of months because growing foals are just amazing.

Zenyatta's colt deserves a much better name than one after a Police song!! Strong colts have strong names, look at Bold Ruler, War Admiral, Secretariat!!!

What!! R they crazy! How will we know the colt's name, or when Zenyatta is in foal again! There hasn't even been any television news about the birth.....how could they do this to her fans. Just when the racing industry needs to keep the fans who support racing.....this is a shame. We understand a few weeks off, but, not end the diary completely! UUGGHH!

So sad. Just when everyone could not wait for the next diary to hear about the foal :(
