Zenyatta to be bred to Tapit, Mosses say

Ann and Jerry Moss will breed their popular 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta to Tapit this year, according to an announcement the couple posted March 22 at Zenyatta.com.

“Zenyatta’s pedigree is a great match to the A. P. Indy sire line, and, in choosing Tapit, we think this will be a dynamic mating,” the Mosses said in the announcement. “Her first mating was to Bernardini, a son of A. P. Indy, and we are thrilled with her colt.”

Zenyatta’s Bernardini colt was born March 8 at Lane’s End Farm in Versailles, Ky., where the Mosses board the Street Cry mare.

Tapit, who stands at Gainesway Farm in Lexington, Ky., for a $125,000 advertised fee, is by A. P. Indy’s son Pulpit. His book is full this year, according to the farm. His current runners include 2011 juvenile champion and 2012 Kentucky Derby hopeful Hansen.
