Zaylaway goes after 2nd stakes

Email

EDMONTON, Alberta - Zaylaway seeks her second stakes victory when she takes on seven other 2-year-old fillies in Saturday's $50,000 Princess Margaret at Northlands Park.

Zaylaway, a Kentucky-bred invader owned by Budget Stable and trained by Janet Armstrong, is 2 for 2 after winning the 6 1/2-furlong Timber Music at Hastings. Zaylaway's regular rider, Carlos Ignacio Silva, has the mount in the six-furlong Princess Margaret.

Trainer Greg Tracy will bid for his third consecutive victory in the Princess Margaret, having won with Miss Venturous in 2004 and with subsequent Alberta horse of the year Kaylee's Magic last summer.

Tracy has a double-barreled threat with Bequia Beauty and Mizzen Her, a pair of Kentucky-breds who have launched their careers with maiden victories. Jake Barton will ride Bequia Beauty, while Stephan Heiler will be aboard Mizzen Her.

Others coming into the Princess Margaret off a win in their only outing are Bearslittlewhisper, Stone Justice, and Cagey Dee.

Bearslittlewhisper, owned by Bear Stables, makes her first start for trainer Dale Greenwood after winning her maiden at Woodbine.

Stone Justice won against $27,500 claimers and is the only filly in the race to have run for a price.

Cagey Dee, one of two Alberta-breds in the lineup along with Two Many Dots, won a maiden special weight.
