Zarb's Dahar victorious in Folklore

Email

Bossier City, La. - Zarb's Dahar, riding a seven race local win streak, made it eight in a row on Saturday at Harrah's Louisiana Downs with a determined effort in the Folklore Handicap. That Tat, one of three that leading trainer Cole Norman sent out in the six and a half-furlong sprint, finished second followed by longshot Nuttyboom. Favored Joe Six Pack, also trained by Norman, finished fourth.

Patiently handled by regular rider Gerard Melancon, Zarb's Dahar ($7.60), allowed the leaders to go early through a :22.18 opening quarter and a :44.68 half before moving to the fore turning for home. Under steady handling, the winner held highweight That Tat at bay in the late going to prevail by a half length in a time of 1:16.69 over a track made sloppy by torrential rains earlier in the program.

Trained by James Hodges for Foxwood Plantation, Zarb's Dahar has now won nine of his 21 career starts and the reigning Co-Horse of the Meeting has earned just over $242,000.
