Yum! Brands to continue to sponsor Kentucky Derby

Yum! Brands will remain the presenting sponsor of the Kentucky Derby through 2020 under a five-year contract extension the company reached with Churchill Downs, the companies announced Monday.

Yum! Brands first reached a deal with Churchill to be the presenting sponsor of the Derby in 2005. The company owns the fast-food brands KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell and operates approximately 40,000 restaurants worldwide.

Terms of the contract extension were not disclosed. Under the agreement, Churchill and its partners will continue to call the first leg of the Triple Crown the “Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands.”

I hate the deal (fast food? really?) but, hey, everything seems to have corporate sponsorship these days. And CDI has been a better bet than a lot of my choices at the track.
