'Yucca Ducka,' Won Ton Dulley meet again

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Meadows will close its 80-day 2004-05 meeting on Sunday with an 11-race card headed by the 870-yard Mayor's Cup for older Quarter Horses, which has drawn a field of eight to vie for a purse of $5,000-added.

The scheduled Thoroughbred feature, the 1 1/8-mile William Kyne Handicap, which would have featured Portland Meadows Mile runner-up My Friend Dave, was called off for lack of entries.

The Mayor's Cup features a rematch between Yucca Ducka Ya Ya and Won Ton Dulley, the first two finishers in an allowance prep at 870 yards on April 10. Yucca Ducka Ya Ya, a 4-year-old son of Judge Cash from the barn of Justine Kent, proved best by nearly four lengths while getting the distance in 46.39. That was Yucca Ducka Ya Ya's first attempt around the hook, and he appears to have found a new specialty.

Won Ton Dulley will be out to make amends after disappointing as the even-money favorite in the prep race. A 6-year-old, he won an allowance race at 870 yards in November and ran third to Beluga Star in the 870-yard Candy Cane Handicap here in December before his runner-up effort last time out.

Also dangerous are Dats Cashabull and Honor Dat Goose, who ran first and second in an 870-yard test for $5,000 claimers here in October. Honor Dat Goose has not been out since that race, but Dats Cashabull came back to run fourth to Won Tom Dulley in his allowance score before prepping for Sunday's assignment with a fifth-place finish in a 300-yard test for $3,500 claimers two weeks ago.

First post for Sunday's finale is set for 1:05 p.m.
