Your Flame in Me tops Delaware sprint

Your Flame in Me, second in the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap at Aqueduct six weeks ago, heads a field of seven older female sprinters in the $55,000 Dashing Beauty, a six-furlong overnight stakes Saturday at Delaware Park.

Based in Maryland with trainer Mike Trombetta, Your Flame in Me was run down by Rite Moment after setting the pace in the six-furlong Distaff on a day when speed dominated on Aqueduct's inner track. Rite Moment came back to win the Grade 2 Bed o' Roses Handicap with a 95 Beyer Speed Figure on April 19.

Akronism returns to Delaware, where she has won 3 of 7 lifetime, following two straight off-the-board finishes in stakes at Oaklawn. Last season at 3, Akronism was good enough to win the $97,000 Jostle at Philadelphia Park.

Trainer Mike Gorham has entered Peak Maria's Way, winner of the $101,000 Obeah Handicap and fourth in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap last season. Although she is 6 for 9 in her career over Delaware's main track, Peak Maria's Way rarely sprints and may be merely using this as a prep for longer races later in the meet.
