Your Excellence in 2-turn debut

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Your Excellence will be looking for his third stakes win in Sunday's $41,000 Buffalo at Assiniboia Downs, a one-mile race for Manitoba-bred 2-year-olds.

Four of the five Buffalo entrants, including Your Excellence, will be trying two turns for the first time.

Trained by Emile Corbel, Your Excellence won a maiden special weight race in his debut on July 2. Your Excellence then won the Frank Arnason on July 31 before a second-place finish in the North Dakota Stallion and a win in the colts and geldings division of the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Sales Stakes.

Like the Buffalo, all three stakes races Your Excellence ran in were restricted.

Vince Guerra, who has been aboard Your Excellence in all four of his starts, will fly in from Phoenix for the mount. The pair will break from the outside.

After narrowly losing his debut, Whiskey Drive has won his last two starts. Trained by Keith Corbel, Whiskey Drive defeated maiden special weight company on Aug. 1 and then won an allowance race at 7 1/2 furlongs Sept. 10. Whiskey Drive is the only entrant with a two-turn race under his belt.

Travis Hightower retains the mount on Whiskey Drive, who starts from post 3.

Gold Strike has been off since winning the Debutante Stakes on July 18. A daughter of Smart Strike, Gold Strike will break from the rail under Jerry Pruitt.

Danger Pay won the fillies division of the CTHS Sales Stakes in her most recent start, Sept. 6. Prior to that, Danger Pay was well beaten by Your Excellence in both the North Dakota Stallion and Frank Arnason.

Danger Pay begins from post 2 with Beth Butler in the irons.
