Yougottawanna suffered a hairline fracture to a pastern bone on Tuesday morning and will be sidelined for at least three months.

Yougottawanna, who won Golden Gate's El Camino Real Derby on March 9 and was preparing for the Santa Anita Derby on April 6, suffered a hairline fracture to a pastern bone on Tuesday morning and will be sidelined for at least three months, knocking him off the Triple Crown trail, co-owner Ted Aroney said Tuesday.

Yougottawanna was out for a routine gallop on Tuesday morning at Golden Gate, where he is based with trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. According to Aroney, Yougottawanna did not pull up well after the gallop, and a fracture was later discovered.

Aroney, who races as Halo Farms, said surgery may be performed on Yougottawanna in order to insert a screw to promote healing. Yougottawanna likely will recuperate at Rancho Paseana, a Southern California training facility owned by Sid and Jenny Craig, who are part-owners with Aroney of Yougottawanna.

Yougottawanna, a California-bred gelding by Candi's Gold who was bred by Aroney, has won four times in 10 starts, for earnings of $316,085. He is best known for upsetting the then-highly regarded Officer in last fall's California Cup Juvenile.
