You beats Cashier's Dream in Frizette

Michael J. Marten
You cruises to a 6 1/4-length victory in Saturday's Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont Park.

You established herself as the top 2-year-old filly in the East by rolling past Cashier's Dream approaching the top of the stretch and drawing clear for a 6 1/4-length victory in the Grade 1, 500,000 Frizette.

Cashier's Dream, the Spinaway winner and even-money favorite, finished second, nine lengths ahead of Riskaverse. Treasure Coast Gem and Cherokee Girl completed the order of finish.

It was the second straight win for You over Cashier's Dream. You also defeated Cashier's Dream in the Grade 2 Adirondack at Saratoga. Before that Cashier's Dream had beaten You in an allowance race at Churchill Downs.

The race went pretty much as expected, with Cashier's Dream setting the early pace, running fractions of 23.11 and 46.08, seconds with You in second. At the three-eighths pole, You drew alongside Cashier's Dream, and she steadily drew away from that rival with only two slaps of Edgar Prado's left-handed whip. You covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.94 and returned $4.80 as the second choice.

"Just the way I thought it would be," said trainer Bobby Frankel, who won his 35th stakes of the year and his 12th Grade 1. "I just thought she'd get the distance over the other one."

Jockey Edgar Prado said, "the main thing was to get her to relax."

Cashier's Dream was made the even-money favorite despite questions about her ability to get the distance. She would need to be supplemented to the Breeders' Cup for a fee of $90,000, which seems unlikely.

"I think it was a very valiant effort for her going 1 1/16 miles," trainer Steve Asmussen said. "She could not outrun You over a distance of ground. No excuses."

You will try to join Meadow Star (1990), Flanders (1994), and Storm Song (1996) as 2-year-olds to have won the Frizette and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, which will be held here on Oct. 27.
