Yonkers: Trainer PJ Fraley scores a Bluechip Matchmaker double

Anndrovette got her first win of the year on Friday.

Stablemates Anndrovette and Krispy Apple were both impressive capturing $40,000 divisions of the Blue Chip Matchmaker series at Yonkers Raceway on Friday. Anndrovette showed just how difficult she is to pass once headed by Ramalama and driver Matt Kakaley on the final turn. Driver Tim Tetrick had the $2 million winner Anndrovette in front early and seemed to have set comfortable fractions. The decision seemed in doubt in early stretch but Tetrick called on his charge and Anndrovette responded with a 1:53 3/5 victory.

Later on the program, Krispy Apple made it two-for-two in the series with a 1:54 2/5 victory for trainer P.J. Fraley and driver Matt Kakaley. Though the daughter of Western Ideal has been more comfortable racing off the pace, Kakaley used her in the early stages to get position. With Foxy Lady in control through a :57 4/5 opening half, Krispy Apple went on the offensive without cover and wore down the leader eventually drawing clear ahead of a stout closing Feeling You. The race pitted four first leg winners against each other but Ramona Disomma and Rocklamation suffered very difficult journeys. Ramona Disomma made an uncharacteristic break taking the lead past the quarter. Rocklamation, driven by Yannick Gingras, was stymied and pushed three wide briefly when Radar Contract pulled underneath her before the half. The Rocknroll Hanover-sired mare again was forced three wide early off the third turn and remained wide finishing a respectable third.

Gingras had a much easier time of it with Camille in another $40,000 division. The Ron Burke-trained mare made it two straight going down the road to hold off a determined Unred Hanover. That mare tried desperately in the early stages to gain the front but Camille would have none of it securing a 1:54 1/5 winning mile. Stablemate Ginger And Fred finished third.

Although there were five divisions, six winners emerged from second leg action of the series because Royal Cee Cee N and Warrawee Koine finished in a dead-heat in another division. Bettor B Lucky and Kakaley cut a rated pace of :27 4/5 and :57 2/5 before encountering pressure from Warrawee Koine and Jason Bartlett. That pair challenged hard through a 1:25 4/5 three quarter clocking and then gamely wore down Bettor B Lucky in early stretch. Royal Cee Cee N, a beaten favorite in first leg action, found the passing lane for driver George Brennan in mid-stretch and rallied willingly to gain the tie. The mile was paced in 1:53 3/5.

Odds-on favorite Eighthundrdolarbill was used very hard through opening fractions of :27 and :55 2/5 before securing the lead and then marched on to an easy 1:53 2/5 effort for driver Brian Sears in the first division of the evening. The daughter of Bettors Delight easily held Full Picture at bay with longshot Frontierpan coming on strongly late for the third spot.

Third leg action in the Blue Chip Matchmaker series continues on Friday, April 5.
