Brian Sears had the winning hand on Saturday night at Yonkers Raceway, and he capped an extraordinary night by scoring with Top Flight Angel in the $500,000 Yonkers Trot at odds of 7-1. Even-money favorite Devious Man used the pole to his advantage for Andy Miller, securing the lead from the start and forcing tucks. With last week's elimination winner Yes Mickey gaining the pocket after leavers Guardian Angel As and Di Oggi broke in succession on the first turn, Top Flight Angel managed to follow in third from the second tier with Sears.  Devious Man cut fractions of 28 /45 and 58 4/5 with Miller appearing in full control. Sears pulled on the backstretch and got the jump on the pocket-sitter, going on the offensive through a 1:27 3/5 three-quarters. Top Flight Angel pulled on even terms with his stablemate Devious Man (both trained by Julie Miller), and Sears put him in full stride, getting the edge over Yes Mickey. Once the passing lane opened up Yes Mickey accelerated quickly and closed in gamely, but on the wire he fell a nose short of Top Flight Angel. Devious Man finished third in the 1:56 3/5 mile. Top Flight Angel scored for just the third time in a dozen starts, with the $250,000 winner's share of the purse tripling his career earnings for Legendary Standardbred Farm. "It's a huge accomplishment," said Julie Miller of sending out a Triple Crown leg winner. "We're glad Brian could deliver." "At the head of the stretch the horse just picked up the lines and took off," said Sears, who managed to win two Triple Crown races on one night, each by the slimmest of margins. Celebrity Ruth and driver Jason Bartlett took control at the quarter and never looked back in the $119,010 Hudson Trot for sophomore fillies.  The daughter of Archangel, sent off as the 8-5 favorite, set fractions of 28 1/5, 58 2/5, and 1:27 2/5 on her way to a 1:56 3/5 victory. Chapter Too followed the winner most of the way from the pocket and earned the place spot, with Mamora Bay a solid third after an overland journey. White Birch Farm owns Celebrity Ruth, who won for the fifth time in 11 lifetime starts for trainer Trond Smedshammer. "She tied up in her last start (Zweig Memorial at Vernon), or I think she could have won," said Jason Bartlett. "Trond said she'd be good tonight and she was."
