Yonkers: Thursday 5/1 Analysis

MEET STATS: 0 - 0 / $0.00

Best Bet: NUTMEGS DESIRE (1st)

Spot Play: TWICKENHAM (3rd)

Race 1

(1) NUTMEGS DESIRE sports s string of outside posts and finally lucks-out with the rail. Nick Surick trainee should take care of business. (4) BLACK MAGIC EYES qualified well and has plenty of half-mile track experience. (3) WILD DREAM has early speed and is an exacta must.

Race 2

(3) IVANA HANOVER returns to Yonkers at a reduced level and should be pointed to the front by Brian Sears. (1) HOBOKEN SONNY is probably a better fit at a slightly lower condition, but he has some early speed and should sit a good trip. (4) BROOKROADDONNIE flashed some ability as a 3-year-old and would be no shock here.

Race 3

(1) TWICKENHAM posted an even mile after over a month on the shelf. Gelding has a bit of early speed in his arsenal and the ability to post a fast mile at times. This is the perfect spot. (4) CUTTY SHARK steps up off a win and seems sharp enough to play with these. (6) RED CARPET DUDE is hardly intriguing, but this field is full of dull-looking horses.

Race 4

(6) M G HOME RUN hails from the Brittany Robertson barn, and you’ll read that name a lot in this analysis. She sent out four winners here from Thursday to Saturday last weekend. I expect this gelding to handle the class jump. (8) DUTCH RICHMAN is clearly sharp enough to overcome the bad draw. (5) VODKA IS TERROR is a smooth trip away from at least hitting the board and possibly more.

Race 5

(1) MCKENZIES STAR ships in from the Meadowlands and picks up inside position; very logical. (3) ARRIBA AMIGO is up in class slightly but should be able to get the jump on this field. (5) GURF doesn’t look great on paper, however, I never count this guy out at this class.

Race 6

(3) ROCKAVELLIAN was sharp before and now gets a barn switch to another top outfit. (4) TALKTOMECOURAGE N got caught in a really fast race most recently. Trainer Scott DiDomenico didn’t claim this guy back two starts ago for nothing. (1) HOT RODDY has speed and pylon position.

Race 7

This is a tough race with most of the top barns at the track represented. (4) CAMPHOR HANOVER comes off a subpar effort on the engine, but I think she does her best work from off the pace; another shot. (1) SPRINGHOUSE STAR gets a major barn change tonight. (3) MCEVER is another with a new home—Robertson barn.

Race 8

(4) PALM PATROL took plenty of air last time and paid the price. She drops down a notch and has no excuses. (7) BROWNSVILLE BOMBER arrives off a decent effort from behind at Pocono. Notice this barn has a strong record this year. (1) HAYWORTH BLUE CHIP comes off a sharp mile at Monticello and has the class to go with this bunch.

Race 9

(1) GIVEITTOMESTAIGHT faces a field without too much early zip and should take charge. (5) SPECIAL KIM gets a barn change to the Robertson stable; improvement is likely. (6) MOJARRA HANOVER is capable but usually at the mercy of the pace scenario.

Race 10

(1) MY TALLIA IDEAL should use the pylon position to her advantage and work out a winning trip. (8) BAD FEELING moved into the Robertson barn and blitzed a weaker field. She may be capable of overcoming post eight. (5) PASSION R VIRGINIE couldn’t be much sharper; hard to toss.

Race 11

(8) ANTHONYSKYWALKER has been switching barns and keeping his form. The outside post presents some challenges, but the early scratch of #5 helps. (4) BIG PAYOUT is a good trip away from a chance at winning. (2) JS MISS LINDA has some ability but is also coming off a break; mixed feelings.

Race 12

(2) DELICIOUSLYNAUGHTY comes in from the Meadowlands in better shape than the last time she was seen in Yonkers; narrow edge. (6) IT’S A MIRACLE won at this level last week but loses Brennan. (3) ALIBI HANOVER gets a better post this week and could show speed.
