FINAL 2016 MEET STATS: 458 - 1309 / $2,522.30

BEST BETS: 60 - 107 / $204.90

Best: BRANDOS MUSCLE MAN (7th)

Spot Play: POLAK A (3rd)

Race 1

(1) MOONLITEONTHEBEACH may have been getting a bit tired at the end of last season so perhaps the time off could help his cause; Bamond trainee should be in line for a perfect trip from this spot to kick off 2017 with a win for leading driver Jason Bartlett. (2) CASIMIR JITTERBUG draws well enough and fits nicely with these; threat. (4) GIVENUPDREAMING comes in off two qualifiers at the Meadowlands and should be freshened nicely.

Race 2

(3) WORLD CUP returns locally and does show a win over better than these from late last season; classy veteran can be forwardly placed from this spot. (4) SUMATRA was in distress in his last local effort but he bounced back nicely including a blowout win at The Meadowlands. (1) MILITARY BLUE was gasping in the late stages last out but that was at the added distance; back to the mile today.

Race 3

(3) POLAK A was racing well here at the end of last year and he should be tight having raced last weekend at The Big M. (5) TE KAWAU N didn't fire in his last two versus better; import should fit well here. (1) E Z NOAH looks for two straight but he sometimes has trouble stringing good efforts together; use caution.

Race 4

(4) RED HOT HERBIE has been a fringe player at this Open level but the ability is there and this is not the strongest of fields; midpack post gives Bartlett options. (8) NOT AFRAID shows up to work and gives 100% every time he steps on the track; Dube will have him forwardly placed off the gate. (1) SPRINGBANK SAM N has hit the board in three of four and does draw the innermost post; Stratton's choice.

Race 5

(3) ROCK OF CASHEL isn't the most prolific winner but this looks like a nice spot to time his one live move and get the job done. (10) ZORGWIJK NOVA is reunited with Bartett; threat despite the second tier start. (1) ZOOMING seems to have tailed off in his last few but he's a proven commodity with this type.

Race 6

(9) DREAMSTEELER has been hard to fault in all her recent efforts at this $12,500 claiming level and the price should be better today. (1) MASTER OF EXCUSES has faltered badly in his last two at The Meadowlands but maybe the change in venue can help his cause. (8) BLUSH AND CRUSH ships from Canada for Allard and should be a perfect fit at this level; consider her if she takes any action or watch her for future races.

Race 7

(3) BRANDOS MUSCLE MAN has raced well to be second best in his last two; veteran has faced much better than these in the past and he can win this race on memory. (4) MASSIVE TALENT didn't really fire in his last two but was a winner when last at this level. (10) MOVEMENT has been a solid earner in all of her starts for Lateza.

Race 8

(2) TORNADO TIM just missed three back to a horse who's a legit player in today's Open; as long as he behaves himself the Allard trainee appears the one to beat. (6) CLEMENTINE DREAM can compete with these on his best day and should be a big price with Zeron driving. (8) RUBBER DUCK was most impressive in his debut for new connections; only problem here is the post.

Race 9

(6) MYSTIC FLOWER was within range when she broke two back locally and she followed that up with a nice try at The Meadowlands; Richard Johnson trainee should be a good price with Bongiorno driving. (5) LO RAIL CROSSING is clearly the one to beat for Bartlett/Banca. (4) WARRAWEE PREFERRED likes to win with 14 tallies in 2016.

Race 10

(2) STEMILT TOUCH has raced well in his last three and now picks up Kakaley for his local debut; he seems like the one here in this questionable field. (4) ROCKET MASTER has some live moves and could grind a long way in here. (6) SWISHNFLICK is clearly off his game and that qualifier doesn't inspire a ton of confidence; proceed with caution.

Race 11

(5) IN THE HUDDLE is not as accomplished as some others in here but he has been razor-sharp and was Stratton's choice over some live rivals; major speed threat in the finale. (6) ROLAND N ROCK has really blossomed into a legit top-level horse in recent months. (2) SOMEWHERE IN L A has class to him and looks for two straight.
