Yonkers: Saturday 9/5 Analysis

MEET STATS: 256 - 806 / $1449.90 BEST BETS: 36 - 64 / $121.90

Best Bet: E Z NOAH (10th)

Spot Play: NATIONAL DEBT (9th)

Race 1

(3) SHADY CITY gets needed class and post relief tonight. Interesting to see Stalbaum isn't here to drive, but I'm sure Stratton will do just fine. (1) ROCK TO GLORY was in a bit tough versus claimers last week but he held well to be a best-of-the-rest fourth. This is an easier spot. (6) REGAL BABE shipped in from Canada last week and had a very encouraging local debut.

Race 2

(4) TWIN B HOLLISTER was snatched last out for 50K by Banca and drops back into the same conditioned level where he's had some success; I have to assume he'll be live here. (3) STOMPIN TOM CREEK was second best in a decent try upon arrival from Canada. (8) SOMESIZESOMESTYLE was used hard last week as the favorite and tired; he's stuck outside tonight but the price will be better.

Race 3

(8) ROGER MACH EM was a good second to a solid winner last week and now gets to drop significantly; the eight hole is no bargain but he's more than capable if Carlson can get him involved early enough. (3) KEYSTONE HONOR has been racing well for the Laterza barn and he should be a player here. (1) BLATANTLY BEST drops and gets post relief; good combo.

Race 4

(4) FEELS LIKE MAGIC N toured the track last week with absolutely no chance; prior efforts from better posts were all solid and Buter will have him in play from this spot. (1) FIERY LUSTRE N stormed home from too far back last week; these recent Bamond imports have been hit or miss but this one did look good in his debut. (2) MY TEMUDJIN N fired from the eight hole, then was rank and gapped out; prior effort was solid.

Race 5

(8) OBRIGADO has his work cut out for himself from this spot, but he's proven that he belongs with the upper echelon of trotters and he does outclass these. (7) NOT AFRAID hasn't been at his best in some time but the Takter trainee is still a big money-maker, and he does have a tactical edge on the top choice. (4) SEVRUGA was stubborn on the front end last out and he should be forwardly placed again.

Race 6 – Yonkers Trot

(2) HABITAT was a trotter I didn't take seriously in last week's elimination but he looked very good going coast to coast and leaving inside his main competition is a huge angle. (2A) CRAZY WOW is coupled with the top choice in the wagering and tripped out to win his elimination but he'll have to be used much harder from this spot. (1A) PINKMAN was cautiously handled around the far turn last week but once straightened out he showed his class and was trotting well to the wire. Yannick is back here to drive in the final and it's interesting to see what kind of trip he works out. (3) BUEN CAMINO gets a lucky post draw but he looks just a notch below the top ones here; Smedshammer will be firing hard from the rail.

Race 7

(7) GREAT VINTAGE was stuck in the eight hole last week, tried to leave but was forced to take back and didn't fire from there. He only moves in one slot tonight but there may be a clear path to the front. (4) DOCTOR BUTCH returns locally after failing versus the best of the best and he was right there with the top choice two back. (2) THE REAL ONE lands another nice inside post and the Lachance trainee has to be considered for a share.

Race 8 – Messenger Stakes

(4) IN THE ARSENAL has come up a little short recently versus the top 3-year-olds but he's back at Yonkers, where he recently won the Rooney and took the Sheppard as a freshman. Sears should be firing from this good post and it looks like he will be sitting a live trip. (2) DUDE'S THE MAN couldn't hang with Wiggle It Jiggleit in the Battle of the Brandywine, but he certainly didn't disgrace himself. Colt won the Adios prior to his troubled trip in the Cane and from the rail tonight he'll be a force to be reckoned with. (1) DEALT A WINNER was the upset winner of the Cane, firing home off a wicked pace. I don't see the same scenario developing tonight which may make it hard to get involved.

Race 9

(2) NATIONAL DEBT makes his third start for the Alagna barn and has a much better spot to work with. Previously highly regarded horse will make his presence felt tonight. (6) FORTY FIVE RED is back in with restricted 4-year-olds and he should be firing from the gate. (5) YS LOTUS gets a better draw and the Allard trainee can be more involved.

Race 10

(6) E Z NOAH had pace with little chance in his last three races; tonight he returns with some class relief and should try to head down the road. (4) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE has done little wrong in all recent efforts and he's likely to provide some value. (7) SOMEWHERE IN L A returns locally for Takter and the 4-year-old was a winner when last seen here; this looks like a tough spot, however.

Race 11

(5) DREAM OUT LOUD N came up a nose shy last week chasing the sharp Mickey Hanover, who retook and dug in. I'll give the Cassar trainee another look. (2) LUCAN HANOVER returns locally for the Casie Coleman barn, gets Sears back in the bike and is certainly capable of taking this. (3) ORILLIA JOE beat a notch higher two back and the Julie Miller trainee is in good form.

Race 12

(4) DAYLON MIRACLE returns with both serious class and post relief. The Allard trainee should be able to handle her business. (6) DEWYCOLORINTHELINE also gets needed class relief and should be good value starting from the outside; can Stratton get him involved? (3) CROSBYS CLAM BAKE raced well last week considering he was shuffled.

Race 13

(1) BAD BOY MATT was a good second last week to the tough Heez Orl Black N; Wayne Givens trainee gets a lucky post draw again and faces no standouts. (6) SING FOR ME GEORGE was a solid second two back then couldn't reach last week; Sears is back in the bike. (5) BACKUP A was uncovered chasing a chalky lineup number last week and held well for third; he can progress off that effort.
