Best Bet: PACING MAJOR N (9th) Spot Play: CHUMLEE A (1st) MEET STATS: 173 - 556 / $977.80 BEST BETS: 25 - 43 / $88.00 Race 1 (2) CHUMLEE A exited the Levy series and proved a game winner back at a more realistic level; from this good post the Team Stalbaum is definitely good enough to repeat. (3) ALOTBETTOR was a well rated winner last week versus a notch lesser and he looks for three straight; which is certainly possible from this spot. (1) ARTFUL WAY was one of the most overbet horses I've seen in some time but he did deliver at 1/5 odds last week. Could he win again? I suppose, but I'm not using him on top. Race 2 (4) CHECKERED PAST raced well here last Monday just missing and I'll give the filly a look in a race with no standouts. (3) PELICAN BLUE CHIP ships in for 'live' connections off two narrow losses at Philly. (2) GEREMEL HANOVER raced pretty well here in the Petticoat and raced well in overnight events at Harrington but he's got an unproven driver listed; use caution. Race 3 (2) PYTHON BLUE CHIP was a fringe stakes player as a 2-year-old and qualified nicely in behind some good ones at The Meadowlands; Burke trainee may be ready for action. (4) PRESTO BLUE CHIP was razor-sharp winning her last two out of town. (5) BETTERTHANBRIE seems to have a live move that needs to be timed right; obvious threat hailing from the Takter barn. Race 4 (3) HURRIKANE SHORTY was a NYSS finalist last year, and a live one at that, but she broke and lost all chance. Filly may be ready for her 3-year-old debut off two nice qualifiers. (6) SCUOLA HANOVER raced well in the PaSS as a freshman and is another who may be ready for action right off the bench. (1) REIGN ON ME and (1A) TELL ME A JOKE both seem capable, and it can't hurt having two for the price of one. Race 5 (4) WES DELIGHT has looked very good in his 2018 efforts, including a nice second place finish in a PaSS event last week; Harder trainee looks like the one to beat. (5) JERSEY JIM was the NYSS Final winner as a freshman and he's also come back nicely to start his 3-year-old campaign; Brennan picks up the catch drive. (1) TRUMP NATION has had some nice moments at Yonkers and is one for one to start the year. Race 6 (4) KWIK TALKIN was the Sheppard winner here last year and is likely ready to go off those qualifiers. (6) PAPRIKE BLUE CHIP banked over $200K as a freshman and is another who should be expected to be sharp off the bench. (2) JIMTASTIC may be a bit short off those qualifiers but he does have a class edge on his main rivals. Race 7 (6) EVENIN OF PLEASURE took a couple of weeks off after the Levy final and he can outleave the rest of these if Bongiorno desires; wire-to-wire? (5) LONG LIVE ROCK returns locally off a steady effort at Pocono and he also had some good moments in the Levy. (7) SOMEWHERE IN L A was repelled by a sharp Western Fame last week and has to contend with an outside post again. Race 8 Dave Miller is here just to drive (4) DECOY for the Jimmy Takter barn and this one looked very sharp in his 2018 debut. (3) MACH N CHEESE returns locally, gets Stratton back in the bike and raced well here in the Sagamore. (6) ILUVTOMAKEMONEY could have used a better post but seems capable. Race 9 (3) PACING MAJOR N paced a powerful back half and drew away easily from a sharp rival last week; looks like the Tritton trainee is transitioning nicely into a top aged horse. (1) ROLAND N ROCK fits with these, is assigned the rail and should take full advantage of the opportunity. (6) GRATIAN HANOVER kicked in nicely late off cover to be second best, passing Somewhere in L A in the process; Bongiorno trainee can be a late player again. Race 10 (3) SHADY CITY can grind forever and still keep coming at the end; he may be close up enough from this spot to reach. (1) J T gets much-needed post relief and figures to be a big speed player from this spot. (4) STARSKY'S DREAM N is much-improved since moving to the Allard barn; I'm not sure if he's a true $40K claimer but he can be considered for a share. Race 11 (3) BUEN CAMINO never got involved last week but we all know he's better than that and I expect him to be put in play early from this decent starting spot. (7) IN SECRET may try firing from the gate to give him his best chance and he may be decent value from this spot. (4) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN has behaved himself nicely in his last couple and picked up good shares in both; Bucci trainee has proven he can go with this type. Race 12 (6) BETTOR'S EDGE has been rock-solid all season and clearly deserves top billing against a suspect group in his return to Yonkers. (4) MATEO needed last week's start at Saratoga and I think this 4-year-old may show something serious for Banca. (1) FAMEOUS WESTERN is always a tough win proposition but the veteran can be counted on for a share. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
