Best Bet: MACKENZIE A (7th) Spot Play: SOHO LENNON A (12th) MEET STATS: 149 - 474 / $836.00 BEST BETS: 23 - 38 / $79.40 Race 1 (3) BJ'S GUY has been racing well at the $50K claiming level for Macdonald/Garcia-Herrera and now he drops in price, though still entered higher than the initial $30K claim. Veteran deserves top billing facing a field of unproven types at this level. (1) SPINARAMA has raced well in his two starts off the Alexander claim and he draws best tonight. (5) DIAMOND COWBOY is up in class going for yet another new barn off the claim and he's been sharp. Race 2 (1) TEXICAN N makes his 2018 debut off a lengthy layoff and we've seen these Tritton trainees be ready for action off just one even-looking qualifier. (5) FRANCO RAYNER N looks like he may be tailing off but he does drop in class again and should be put in play early. (2) GIVENUPDREAMING gets big-time post relief and has looked very live in his two starts since moving to the Lance Hudson barn. Race 3 (3) BELL I NO switched to Bartlett last week and totally turned things around with a powerful effort; gelding seems capable of repeating. (1) TORRID BROMAC N draws best and was a winner at this level two back. (6) DREAM OUT LOUD N was a strong winner tipping off cover last week versus lesser but clearly he has the class to compete with these. Race 4 (2) MACH TIME N could not last the duration after brushing and controlling the action last week; he may be better suited sitting off the pace or grinding, which may happen from this spot. (3) AMERICAN BOY N makes his U.S. debut off a willing qualifier as we welcome Brian Sears back into the sulky; as usual watch the board for clues. (4) BULLET BOB is always a threat to fire from the gate and he may have a clear path to the lead from this spot. Race 5 (4) ECLIPSE ME N has been a disappointment in the Matchmaker series after a very encouraging effort in round one and last week she sat and got jammed in with little chance; still waiting for a breakout effort from this mare. (2) NEWBORN SASSY has looked good in her last two and certainly makes plenty of sense from this spot. (1) GINA GRACE N may be flashing high speed for Stalbaum. Race 6 (2) ROLAND N ROCK easily disposed of the field last week and has performed well at the top level in the past; with a good post assignment in this 'faux' Open he seems capable of repeating. (6) THE REAL ONE returns to Yonkers to make his second seasonal start after winning at The Big M; we all know he's the best here but we also know he'll probably be coming from last. (3) BADIX HANOVER has been very sharp since the Banca claim despite hitting a bump in the road last week. Race 7 (6) MACKENZIE A didn't fire her best shot last week which kept her out of the Matchmaker final but anything close to her usual effort will be enough to beat these. (5) CLEAR IDEA has three decent seconds in the series and has done well from near or off the pace; should be a good price to include underneath. (1) SCANDALICIOUS moves all the way inside which should help her cause. Race 8 (1) CHRISTEN ME N seems to be finding his stride after a couple of flat efforts earlier in the Levy and he rates a slight edge here from the best post as the deserving favorite. (2) LONG LIVE ROCK was able to rate the action last week and was a comfortable winner at a generous price; Allard trainee should be close to the action again. (7) MISSILE J has raced well in all Levy legs but failed to make the final and now lands a tough outside post in the consolation; new driver Bartlett may try to generate some early speed. Race 9 – Matchmaker Final (1) SHARTIN N very notably misbehaved last week putting an end to her Matchmaker dominance; I'm willing to forgive and forget, and assume Tetrick will have her on the right track from the best post and take care of business in this lucrative final. In what may be a wide-open scrum underneath I'll use (4) LADY SHADOW, who has had her share of disappointments in the series but did look better last week and has a big chance to recoup some of that hefty purchase price for her connections. (7) TWINKLE looked very good early on in the series before flattening after an uncovered effort last week; Croghan trainee will be a big price here and could round out the ticket. Race 10 – Levy Final In what shapes up as one of the most competitive Levy finals we've ever seen, I have landed on (5) SOMEWHERE IN L A. The versatile veteran had looked super this year prior to last week's 'non-effort' and in a race where there figures to be a very hot early tempo and the potential for late traffic I'll hope Bartlett can follow live cover and launch late. (7) BIT OF A LEGEND N does what he does week in and week out and is in top shape coming into this final; only problem is the post, but that will guarantee a good price. How can you not include him if he's around 10/1? (3) KEYSTONE VELOCITY managed to sneak into the final and don't forget he was last year's champ. I don't know what the trip will be and I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see him take all. Race 11 (5) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN qualified back pretty nicely in what was ultimately a 1:54 2/5 mile and seemed to stay safe with new pilot Stratton; he's a threat here if he minds his manners for a hot barn. (4) MONEY MAVEN went a long trip in last and didn't tire that badly; his 'A' game is clearly good enough to beat these. (6) WILL TAKE CHARGE was way overbet in my opinion last week and broke leaving in the first turn; recent Canadian shipper deserves another look. Race 12 (3) SOHO LENNON A finished willingly last week after being jammed on the rail; classy veteran fits perfectly with this type and appears to have a big chance in the finale. (1) RODEO ROCK picked up two checks in the Levy and can trip out from this spot. (4) VORACITY blew away lesser impressively and will have to be even better tonight to beat these.
