Yonkers: Saturday 3/23 Analysis

MEET STATS: 81 - 207 / $454.30     BEST BETS: 11 - 16 / $36.20

Best Bet: ANNIESWESTERNCARD (6th)

Spot Play: JACKED UP (11th)

Race 1

(1) KEYSTONE VELOCITY was solid in that qualifier, getting beat by a big-time mare; he looks ready for action off that effort. (7) ESPEN DE VIE takes a needed drop in class and could awaken. (2) TIDEWATER TOMAHAWK lands inside and should be considered a threat.

Race 2

(5) FOREST VIC A has still got the goods at age fourteen. There's some shaky speed types inside of him tonight and it wouldn't shock me if he could surge from off the pace if Smith puts him in the right spot. (3) TALKTOMECOURAGE N beat these three back from an inside post. (1) LIGHTNING STRIKE has been a steady check-earner.

Race 3

(7) SHARKS LEGACY finished with plenty of pace last week and he's got more than enough class to get it done here. (3) SAINT WILLIAM A dropped to this level last week and was nailed in a tough beat. (4) BJ'S BEQUIA has shown improvement since Sears hopped aboard.

Race 4

(2) A J CORBELLI cruised in two straight here, then was a rugged second last week to a horse that's a morning-line favorite in the Levy; looks like the one to beat here. (3) VILLAGE BEAT held for a share last week in the Open and his prior efforts were good. (8) TOBAGO CAYS may show big speed to overcome the eight hole draw.

Race 5

(4) MAINLAND KEY N has a pretty good history here. Tetrick drives tonight and he should be forwardly placed. (7) VERSADO enters the Levy in rock-solid form. (1) STONEHOUSE ADAM is one of multiple formful Burke entrants. This one draws best.

Race 6

(5) ANNIESWESTERNCARD exploded home impressively to score in the Open last out and he's another Burke trainee that's peaking at the right time. (2) ONE MORE LAUGH has seemed to have lost a step over the last year or so but from this inside spot the Schnittker trainee can be considered. (4) DANCIN YANKEE hit the board in all of his 2012 Levy preliminary legs.

Race 7

(2) CLEAR VISION finds a soft Levy division in which to make his 2013 debut; he's another Burke millionaire who's primed to make good money this season. (5) NOB HILL HIGH had a successful 2012 Levy campaign and he's been showing renewed energy lately. (6) ELECTROFIRE could (and should) be leaving the gate tonight.

Race 8

(2) SAPPHIRE CITY didn't fire with his best last week but his prior effort was encouraging; gelding figures to be chasing the pacesetting (3) SOMETHING FOR DOC and maybe he can get up in time. The latter is another Burke speedster (yawn!) that looms the one to beat. He's been rock-solid since arriving locally. (4) SECOND WIND N was overmatched versus Golden Receiver in the Presidential but he could be competitive here.

Race 9

(4) CASIMIR JITTERBUG ships back sharp from Canada and he may have a tactical advantage over main rival (6) ATOCHIA. The latter was the 2012 Levy winner....will be need a start to get back to winning form? (7) CODE WORD really hasn't skipped a beat since leaving the Burke barn; post hurts, however.

Race 10

(1) FOILED AGAIN is now nine years old and he's been prepped for this series with two morning efforts at The Meadowlands. Once again, he's the feature horse in the Levy in his quest for the $5 million mark. (4) RAZZLE DAZZLE tightened nicely last week over the big track. Veteran gelding really impressed me last season. (5) OUR CULLENSCROWN looks like the best of the locals.

Race 11

(3) JACKED UP has closed a ton in his last two and he's sharp enough to compete here. (2) MONTREAL PHIL ships back locally and surprisingly he's taken three of his last five. (1) FAT MANS ALLEY can threaten from this inside post.

Race 12

(5) SOUTHERN ALLIE returns locally and once he drives on to the front to control the action he can take this field the distance. (4) ELECTRIC OUI is a week-in-week-out solid money earner; veteran must be considered here. (1) WESTERN DAKOTA lands another good post and he held for a share versus similar last week.
