MEET STATS: 9 - 25 / $56.20      BEST BETS: 2 - 2 / $7.30

Best Bet: REAL FLIGHT (13th)

Spot Play: DIAMOND COWBOY (11th)

Race 1

(5) BETTORS EDGE found himself in a bad spot against much, much tougher in the Breeders Crown. This is a strong group for the non-winners of $18,000 class, but he gets my nod. (4) ESCAPE THE NEWS is another who has been facing better company; big threat. (1) MONTREAL PHIL comes off a win at this level. This spot is difficult but the rail draw helps.

Race 2

(3) SHOOBEES PLACE double-drops in class and lured Brennan off four others. (1) JACKED UP takes one step down the class ladder and should find speed from the inside. (4) FITZS Z TAM is worth a look on the Gingras/Burke angle alone.

Race 3

(1) ROADWAY has Sears and the rail in a race without much early speed signed on. (3) PAPA RAY looks good on paper if you toss his last race. (4) SHORTSTACKED gets a major driver switch to Tetrick.

Race 4

(2) SOMWHEROVRARAINBOW is selling as HIP 1809 on Saturday 11/9 in the Harrisburg sale. Brian Sears is called on to drive and my guess is they will be going all out to win. If not this week then certainly in the final. (3) CHARISMA HANOVER should be sitting first or second behind the top choice. (1) SOCIAL SCENE has one big move in her tank. She’ll need to time it right.

Race 5

(2) SCANDALOUS HANOVER chased Shebestingin in the fastest ever mile by a female pacer last time. She looks best on paper. (4) JERSEYLICIOUS gets a piece of the pie at ever dance; threat. (3) AUNT CAROLINE was a good third in the Breeders Crown behind the best filly in the country.

Race 6

(1) LONEWOLF CURRIER is back at the scene of one of his best races of the year. I’d expect Sears to secure the pocket and pounce late. (2) DEDIS DRAGON is racing well now and could get a part of the exacta at a price. (3) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP is the one to beat but is coming off a subpar effort against better.

Race 7

(5) WORD POWER should be feeling good about himself after a couple of easy wins. I can see Brennan gunning off the gate and taking these a long way. (1) LUCAN HANOVER has been razor sharp lately and is a deserving favorite. (4) ODDS ON EQUULEUS is the wildcard of the field. His qualifier was strong.

Race 8

(2) HILLBILLY HANOVER drops out of the Open Handicap but shows little form; weak call. (7) RUSSLEY RASCAL N adds Sears off a win. (5) ALED HANOVER is a sharp horse with early speed.

Race 9

(3) HESTON BLUE CHIP was the lucky recipient of an open draw this week. Horse is 5-for-7 here in his career and should be in command from the get-go. (7) FRED AND GINGER is a fast and dangerous horse. You have to use both of the top two in your pick fours. (1) PAN FROM NANTUCKET should protect position from the inside and get a nice prize.

Race 10

(4) MONTANA PABLO A has made a nice living in Australia and tries his luck in North America off a good qualifier. I don’t know what to expect, but I’ll roll the dice with Tetrick and this solid barn. (3) MACHS BEACH BOY comes off a big mile and is clearly the one to beat. (2) K SLATER draws inside this week.

Race 11

(5) DIAMOND COWBOY double-drops out of the Open class and picks up Tetrick. Four-year-old gelding is supposed to awaken. (3) FOREIGN OFFICER is fast away from the gate. The last time Sears drove him he won easily. (4) SIR RICHARD Z TAM moves back inside.

Race 12

(4) MALAK USWAAD N qualified back with a nice blowout win after freshening up for winter action. If ready he is the one to beat. (3) BULLET SPEED is capable of a big mile. (1) BLATANTLY BEST is an interesting shipper. (6) FLEM N EM N can leave well if need be and remains dangerous despite the outside post.

Race 13

(1) REAL FLIGHT raced evenly in a fast race last time. The field has no standouts and I’d expect this classy 5-year-old to go down the road. (2) FLYING INSTRUCTOR usually races well when he draws inside. (4) ONTHECLOCK HANOVER is sharp. Sometimes that is enough.
