Race 1

(5) RUSSLEY RASCAL N takes a needed drop in class and finds a field with no standouts; he looks like he's got as good a shot as any in here. (7) GOOD DAY MATE is guaranteed to be firing from the gate but the Burke trainee hung off a good trip last out and he doesn't like to win. (8) KIWI IDEAL N was used early and came up empty late in last; he's stuck outside but could be considered for a minor share.

Race 2

(2) MR HASANI N returns locally and almost always gives a good accounting of himself; tough to ignore from this inside spot. (1) VALIDUS DEO charged home to just miss versus lesser, his first start back from vacation. He can certainly take the next logical step tonight. (6) ESPEN DE VIE got hung to dry last out; if you ignore that effort the gelding fits with these.

Race 3

(8) MALAK USWAAD N was totally airborne last week and got closer than he ever should have, but he's stuck in the eight hole again and there's no added run into the first turn tonight. He's still worth playing with Tetrick on the return drive. (1) OUR DRAGON KING put in a solid effort in his local return. (2) ROCK ON MOE has been sharp in his last few and he draws well.

Race 4

(4) TEXICAN N raced well in his last two Open efforts for board spots in each; veteran import should be forwardly placed off the gate. (5) MACH IT SO was stung a bit to the lead last week and paid the price late; he gets away from the eight hole tonight. (6) LUCAN HANOVER bumps up to this level off a dominating win.

Race 5 – Yonkers Trot Final

(2) NUNCIO is clearly the headline horse here and he proved last week that the half-mile was no problem as he cruised around the oval effortlessly. Jimmy Takter trainee lands a good inside post and he should have no problems taking the YR trot trophy. (1) GURAL HANOVER was the other elimination winner and he draws best here for the final. This looks like an ice-cold chalk exacta. (4) DATSYUK didn't have the easiest of trips last week but he did qualify for the final. There's no reason he can't be third best here.

Race 6 – Messenger Final

(5) MCWICKED closed a ton in his last two local starts from less-than-ideal spots, and in both efforts he looked like he was ready for more. Tonight he has a post edge on his main rivals and he should be ready for an explosive effort. (4) LYONSSOMEWHERE passed some horses from the eight hole last week in the Messenger elimination (prep?). Takter trainee has plenty of early speed and this looks like a spot where driver Brett Miller should utilize it. (1) ALL BETS OFF faltered last week with no visible excuse; let's see if he can bounce back from that effort.

Race 7 – Hudson Trot Final

(1) MARKET RALLY seems to only need to behave herself in order to easily score here. (1A) AVALICIOUS looks like the clear second-best horse in here and she's coupled with the top choice. (2) HIGHEST PEAK didn't fire in her last two races at The Red Mile but she's better than that; speed and the best draw is a good combo.

Race 8 – Lady Maud Final

(3) ACT NOW brushed from last to first in the blink of an eye and didn't let up at all in her elimination last week. It's very tough to look past her tonight. (7) TYRA went evenly last out in a needed race; she lands an outside post but is capable given a live trip. (1) BEAUTIFUL LADY is decent stock from Burke (aren't they all?) who is also stuck outside tonight but could look to fire from the gate with Kakaley.

Race 9 – International Trot Preview

(6) SEBASTIAN K is still the top-ranked harness horse despite coming up short in his last two efforts. Ake Svanstedt trainee is still buzzworthy within the industry and he headlines this deep and impressive group of trotters. I don't see the outside post being a problem because he's got a strong burst of speed which will land him a perfect early spot. (1) COMMANDER CROWE returns to North America from overseas and the 11-year-old brings with him an impressive resume. Driver Orjan Kihlstrom has some tactical options from this spot, and I can envision him grinding off the speed a long way and living to tell about it late. (5) ARCH MADNESS blew away an overnight field in track-record time last week, which was very encouraging. Veteran can certainly build off that effort and compete for a share here.

Race 10

(3) SAFE HARBOR got a bit buried last week in the Open, his first start for the Julie Miller barn. He was a winner when last at this level. (5) SAPPHIRE CITY took a month off and qualified well enough; he's got plenty of early speed at his disposal. (8) BIG N BAD is certainly good enough but the eight hole may present a problem.

Race 11

(2) SANTANNA ONE moves back inside and was a winner two back; weak vote here. (7) VILLAGE BEAT loses Brennan but his last was impressive; can he get away from the gate tonight? (3) STATION THREEOHSIX bumps up in class looking for two in a row.

Race 12

(2) TYBER TYKE hit town four starts back and was a solid two-move winner; He's back at the same level tonight with an inside post to boot. (1) LAWGIVER HANOVER was second best to a well-rated winner just five days ago from a similar post. (4) FOREVER JUST is clearly a good fit at this level.

Race 13

(4) ORILLIA JOE changed barns last week and won as if he was ready for more; deserves a follow-up wager here. (2) CODE WORD closed stoutly for second last out and the veteran gets post relief tonight. (5) DIAMOND COWBOY was a rail-skimming second two back at this level.
