Yonkers: Saturday 10/12 Analysis

MEET STATS: 312 - 882 / $1741.10     BEST BETS: 43 - 70 / $142.20

Best Bet: SECOND WIND N (1st)

Spot Play: FAT MANS ALLEY (9th)

Race 1

(2) SECOND WIND N put in a decent two-move effort last out from the eight hole; he drops, gets post relief and Brennan should be able to control the action from this spot. (6) BIG TIME ROCKS gets tested for class off a blowout score and he's worth considering here. (1) VALENTINO comes back from vacation and may need a race or two.

Race 2

(5) RAFFERTY HANOVER held well after an uncovered try in his first start for the Duspiva barn; veteran can build off that effort. (3) DUKES UP drops and gets away from the eight hole; he looms a big player here. (4) REPORT FOR DUTY N finished sixth last out, but it was a big try. Classy veteran knows how to win.

Race 3

(6) MONTREAL PHIL drops in class and I would love to see Lachance get aggressive from this spot. (2) SHORTSTACKED gets some much-needed post relief tonight. (1) OUR CULLENSCROWN N also moves inside and he can hit the ticket with a ground-saving trip.

Race 4

(3) OR isn't the most prolific winner but he does have a post edge on some of the primary contenders; maybe. (8) ONE THROUGH TEN should be firing out early and he could threaten with good early placement. (2) ALL STEINAM ships north from Delaware and he lands inside.

Race 5

(2) ESPEN DE VIE has been knocking on the door in his last couple of efforts; Bartlett's choice here looks to be in a winning spot. (3) MAJOR BOMBAY ascends the class ladder again in fine form. (5) WESTERN TRADEMARK could be a closing threat for Holland.

Race 6

(3) STATESMAN N was last week's winner with a game uncovered effort; he lands inside with this week's open draw and he's certainly capable of repeating. (1) CODE WORD is clearly sharp again and he looms large from this spot. (2) GREAT VINTAGE is back at his preferred venue but the missed time could be a concern.

Race 7

(3) ITS A GOOD THING has been hard to fault in all recent efforts and a repeat victory certainly is a strong possibility. (5) HEMER'S CARD SHARK was going nowhere from post eight at Saratoga; prior to that he had been solid locally. (1) GAMBLERS TALE has the rail and Brennan driving; good combo.

Race 8

(2) URGENT ACTION drops back to the winners-over level, where he had hit the board in four straight, including a big uncovered win three back; big player here from this inside post. (1) ALL SPEED HANOVER has been solid in all but one of his local starts this season (naturally the one week I bet him where he broke). The rail post is a big advantage here, (6) LONEWOLF CURRIER proved last week he can be competitive with aged foes.

Race 9

(2) FAT MANS ALLEY was airborne last out but ran out of ground; he will be much closer to the action tonight, perhaps even cutting the mile. (5) EIGHTEEN is always a threat with these and if he can reach the front he will be stubborn. (1) MONEY TWITCH A is clearly feeling good now.

Race 10

(3) NOB HILL HIGH tries another new pilot after last week's slightly improved try; classy veteran is overdue. (5) SILENT SWING recently went over the 2 million mark lifetime and the oldtimer is still going strong. (4) DRUMFIRE A has raced well in defeat in his last few starts.

Race 11

(4) CLASSIC ROCK NROLL takes a needed drop in class and can awaken. (1) P H SUPERCAM draws best tonight which makes him an immediate threat. (2) VERDAD flopped last week; Burke trainee is better than that.

Race 12

(5) JACKED UP keeps Brennan tonight and he can be a halfway decent price in this tough-to-figure race; weak vote here in the finale. (1) OFFICERNAGENTLEMAN was the favorite from a similar spot two back and was beaten only a half a length; player here. (4) HOLDINGALLTHECARDS has tailed off recently but he stacks up with these class-wise.
