Race 5 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

MEET STATS: 140 - 418 / $764.60   BEST BETS: 24 - 34 / $81.00

Best Bet: SUPER SOPH (8th)

Spot Play: PANDA MAN (1st)

Race 1

(6) PANDA MAN needed last week's start off the long layoff. Right now, it's impossible to ignore anything that Garcia-Herrera sends out. (5) ANDY BARAN had no excuse last out, still rates highly here. (3) SODY'S MOONSHINE qualified effectively.

Race 2

(4) PLAYA TULUM certainly lacks the winning habit but he hasn't been all that bad in recent efforts and he should be close to the pace. (8) IPO BLUE CHIP gets needed class relief but she's stuck outside. (5) MAGIC WILL WORK took the money last week but broke; give her another look.

Race 3

(2) WISHINGONADRAGON put in a weak uncovered bid last week but it was probably a needed start; she draws well in this suspect field. (5) SKY ARTIST was second best last out but raced a bit greenly late. (1) ART'S B is tough to endorse for the top spot but she can hit the ticket against these.

Race 4

(5) LUCKY COLBY qualified nicely for Garcia-Herrera and it appears he only needs to stay trotting to have a big chance. (7) GLOWNGOLD put in a nice acclimating effort upon arrival and was second best. (2) DERBY was second in a 115K stakes race down at Freehold.

Race 5

(7) SECOND HAND NEWS returns locally, loves this track and I'm going with him on top despite some tough inside competition. (2) ONE MORE KID also returns looking for his fourth straight local win. (4) FORCE NINE gets class relief and the veteran should be a player.

Race 6

(4) MR DE LUCA powered home at a big price last out in only her second seasonal start; three-year-old can only get better. (5) MAJOR REFORM ships in and was arguably facing tougher out of town; Sears drives. (2) NATIVE LIGHTS qualified against some tough ones.

Race 7

(1) MAJOR SALLY raced well in her debut for Allard and Sears can work out a perfect trip from this spot. (2) A LITTLE STARSTRUK has some stakes experience and she also hails from very live connections. (3) HIGHLAND ROCKSTAR looks next best from this spot.

Race 8

(3) SUPER SOPH has put in overtime on the rim in her last two and held well in both; from this better post she may be brushing to the lead. (1) EXPOSE has hit the board in every local start and she graduates to the NW4 level. (2) CABARET was a winner when last seen here.

Race 9

(5) SOME PLAYA has looked good down at Philly and the well-bred gelding should race well from this spot. (2) DISARREI finished well last out after losing momentum on the final turn; colt is sharp. (1) PRONOLOGY Z TAM should be live from this inside post.

Race 10

(3) SAND SUMMERFIELD has faltered in his last couple but he should be heading to the lead from this spot and I'll give him on more try. (4) TIDEWATER TEDDY returns to Sears and should be heard from. (5) ABBEYLARA has some back class to call upon.

Race 11

(4) LET HER ROCK really hasn't done anything wrong in her last three efforts and she can take this with any sort of live trip. (1) UILLEANN lacks the winning habit but she must be respected here. (7) PANERA HANOVER was a winner upon arrival but she has to overcome the tough post tonight.

Race 12

(2) RIVER RUN FOR RYAN was worn down by a sharp rival last out and he deserves top billing based on that tough beat. (3) MONTREAL PHIL was uncovered into classy rivals in last and the Lachance trainee drops to a new low tonight. (1) IDEAL CARVER is a bit erratic but the talent is there.
