Yonkers: Monday 4/23 Analysis

MEET STATS: 109 - 319 / $502.30

Best Bet: SPARKY (6th)      Spot Play: MOBILE (11th)

Race 1

(1) JETTIN JUSTIN has disappointed in his last two but he drops in class and draws well again; I'm giving him one more shot. (5) SAPPHIRE CITY has taken two in a row here, gets another free ride at this level; why the missed time? (3) SAN ANTONY O is better than that disaster last out.

Race 2

(2) CURRENT CLOSER has plenty of class for Doherty and he should be close enough to strike. (3) HOWMUCHUBENCH hasn't shown much in his career but I think he has some hidden ability somewhere. (1) POINTE OF HONOUR has been racing well on the half-miler down at Freehold.

Race 3

(1) JEREMIAH TROTTER was the pick last week but didn't fire; give him another chance from the rail. (2) PHOTO RULES has been in fine form. (4) SUNSET GENTELMAN used to be good, now he's too erratic to endorse for the top spot.

Race 4

(4) SOUTHWIND TABOR took a big drop in class last week, then ran into another classy rival; he's still at a reduced level here and it looks like he only needs to get past (1) SAILING CRUISE. The latter is also accustomed to facing better, but he doesn't seem at his sharpest right now. (5) K SLATER was a good closing second last out.

Race 5

(3) HANDSOME HARRY should be able to make the lead from this spot and he's a threat to take these the distance. (4) DEAR MAC has been pretty good for MacKenzie and he gets serious class relief tonight. (5) COSMICPEDIA surprised me last week with that solid win; this is a tougher field, however.

Race 6

(4) SPARKY was perfectly driven by Sears last week; repeats. (1) TIDEWATER TOMAHAWK lands inside with the price handicap here and Bartlett should secure a good trip. (2) THE MOHGEAN PAN returns locally and he's had success here in the past.

Race 7

(5) TO TELL THE TRUTH left hard but broke upon arrival; if she hits the lead tonight it looks like she'll only have to contend with (1) CAN'T STOP ME NOW, who she beat two back at The Meadowlands. The latter has speed, the rail and Brennan driving; what else is there to say? (4) HEPBURN BLUE CHIP raced willingly in her seasonal debut.

Race 8

(4) BEAU RIVAGE N grinded on the rim and drew off late last out; if the speed comes back to him he'll have a good shot. (5) MAGNUS DEO is certainly a big threat with a live trip; Sears is back driving. (2) THE ENCOUNTER is going to go as far and as fast as he can.

Race 9

I've been following (7) KITTYS PRO GIRL for some time now with no success; Brennan is driving the erratic mare tonight and maybe he can coax some speed out of her. (1) SOUTHWIND LAVANDA kept up nicely from the pocket and drew clear late for Bouchard; she deserves to be the favorite off that effort. (3) NO FAULTZ picked up some checks in the Petticoat when last seen here.

Race 10

(1) DETERMINE THIS drops in class and gets post relief; logic would dictate that Sears will be no worse than the pocket tonight. (3) AVOGADRO HANOVER ships back looking for three straight. (6) ROADWAY could rally for a share.

Race 11

(5) MOBILE has been in good form for some time now; Sears should be aggressive from the gate. (1) MCARDLE PARK cut a soft pace last out and edged clear for the win; the Drolet barn has been good all year. (4) MATTJESTIC ART figures to have a chance from this spot; interesting that Stratton was listed and went elsewhere, to a horse that seemingly has little chance on paper.
