Yagonnakissmeornot locked up top honors in the preliminaries for the Blue Chip Matchmaker series on Friday night, scoring her fourth victory of the series for driver Dan Dube at Yonkers Raceway. The five-year-old by The Panderosa had to earn the win after starting from post seven with Dube putting her in a four-hole early and then racing her without cover the final half. The Rene Allard-trained mare paced to 1:53 2/5 effort defeating Camille and Ramalama in the process.

“It was two moves,” said Dube, “But it was really easy.”

Yagonnakissmeornot, sent off as the 3-5 betting favorite, has seven wins in 11 starts this year.

Monkey On My Wheel overpowered a worn down 1-9 Somwherovrarainbow in the deep stretch at odds of 13-1 to capture the second and concluding Blue Chip Matchmaker preliminary for catch-driver Yannick Gingras.

Somwherovrarainbow made an early tuck then advanced to the lead by the :28 1/5 opening quarter. Early on the second turn, Shelliscape and driver Tim Tetrick made an aggressive move towards the front but Sears and the favorite didn’t buckle. The pair of heavyweights duked it out posting fractions of :56 2/5 and 1:24 2/5.

By headstretch, Monkey On My Wheel and Gingras had moved wide with authority to pounce on the weakened leader. Summertime Lea, a 75-1 shot, rallied late and nearly got to the winner, losing in a close photo.

Despite the victory, Monkey On My Wheel, with just a first and second place finish in her lone series outings, is unlikely to make the $371,400 final on April 26 but could go in the $75,000 consolation. Casie Coleman trains Monkey On My Wheel.

Preliminary eligibles for the final (with point totals) are as follows: Yagonnakissmeornot (350), Summertime Lea (270), Angels Delight (255), Somwherovrarainbow (237), Anndrovette (225), Rocklamation (208), Kripsy Apple (200), Feeling You (193).

Shelliscape actually finished with more points (199) than Feeling You, but she would be the third horse from the PJ Fraley barn and only two are permitted in the final.
