Yonkers Analysis: Thursday 1/26/12

MEET STATS: 20 - 60 / $170.50

Best Bet: POP ARTIST (3rd)    Spot Play: IMA SPUR (6th)

Race 1

(1) DELIGHTFUL SYD Sharp victory in her last start. Has the speed and the rail slot. Very capable of making it two straight. (2) WITCH TRIALS Her qualifier was not bad. Major player. (8) STYX DELIGHT N took the pocket route and just missed the score in her last try. Can land a share from post eight.

Race 2

(4) TREMENDOUS HIT Eleven-year-old put in a solid qualifier for his return to the races. Has hit the board 20 of 29 starts in 2011 and that's not by accident. Good tactical speed to rate and pounce over this group at his best. (3) I LOOK SPECIAL She gets some post relief and that can help her chances tonight. (1) RYDEABOUT Trotter has got some speed to contend with these.

Race 3

(2) POP ARTIST put in a game effort in her last outing. Pacing mare has fine speed and she every right to put her best foot forward and get the job done. (6) ABLE YANKEE Her last try was not bad and this seven-year-old miss can be right square in the mix. (5) DINGLE BAY Meadowlands invader moves down in class and is clearly not out of this event.

Race 4

(6) FORT VALLEY AS Gelding makes his initial trip to the Hilltop. Has good early zip and Brennan sees fit to drive this four-year-old. Gets the call. (2) POWERFUL TOM tired in the stretch drive at the Big M last week. Returns to Yonkers where he has a chance to be right in the mix. (4) TRITECH Chester invader raced evenly in his last trip to the post. Can have a say.

Race 5

(2) NATURAL WOMAN N made a middle move and tired in the stretch drive. The good news is he moves to a cozy post where he can dictate the pace and hopes to hang on down the lane for the score. (5) SO CONFUSING has wheeled off three straight victories. Big threat again. (1) SAD TUNE should fare well with the move to the fence.

Race 6

(4) IMA SPUR Sharp gelding is knocking at the door. Eight-year-old has good tactical speed to best these with a rate and pounce effort. (2) MARION MISS JULIE She went down the road to get the job done last week. Big threat again. (5) RULE BY STRENGTH Trotting gelding gets class relief in here. Beware.

Race 7

(6) DAY LILY HANOVER Pacing mare raced evenly in her qualifier at the Meadowlands. If she can go back to her December 22 start at Chester, it could be game over for the rest. (3) JK GERONIMO She was sharp in her Pompano finale. Main danger with dangerous driver/trainer combo. (5) MARIE THE ARTIST Five-year-old mare is knocking at the door with three seconds in a row. Watch out.

Race 8

(4) GABRIELLES GIRL Did not fire from the eight hole in her last start. The good news is she drops in class and post four can help her get back to the winner's circle tonight. Another dropdown and move out of the 8 slot is (6)  NIFTY ACE. She is very capable of making some noise in this event. This should be a better spot for (3) LIVINWELL HANOVER where she was overmatched in the Complex at the Meadowlands. Not out of this.

Race 9

(1) GOTABGOODTOBLUCKY was parked-out at the half-mile pole and he did briefly lead but tired in the stretch drive. Four-year-old gelding moves to the half mile oval and draws the fence. With a perfect trip, there's a good chance he can  make tonight a winning one. (4) BIG SKY STORM Easy score in his last try here. Two in a row is not out of the question. (2) CURLY TOP She just got up for win honors last week. Big threat again.

Race 10

(5) HI HO STEVERINO Gelding makes his first start of 2012. Has good tactical speed to be right with the early pacesetters. Can mow them down at his best. (4) ALL STAR DRAGON Seven-year-old has good early foot. Main danger. (6) WINTER RETREAT A closed well for the third spot in his last try. Major player.

Race 11

(6) CHANCEY HALL Trotter put in a game effort for the victory in his last start. He is capable of repeating against these with the same trip. (1) WINBAK RED Drops in class and the rail slot can help his chances. (7) BET IT ALL He moves up in class off his last score. His form is good enough to contend with these.

Race 12

(1) LATE FLYIN N She did not race badly at the Meadowlands last time out. Seven-year-old mare draws the rail for the nightcap and if she can go back to her December 22 start, it can be game over for the rest of these. (2) SENTBYTHEANGELS Eleven-year-old miss is better than her last flop. Main danger. (5) JIMMY THE TERROR has scored four in a row and is not out of this event by far.
