2023 MEET STATS: 182 - 513 / $853.30 (-$172.70) BEST BETS: 30 - 48 / $96.70 (+$0.70) BEST BET: WALKINSHAW N (4th) SPOT PLAY: BURNHAM BOY N (10th) Race 1: NW15000 in last 5 starts AE NW9 Pace (4) BOILING OAR gets significant class relief tonight after having moderate success at higher levels; Cullipher trainee with Bartlett driving is a logical (and chalky) selection to kick off the festivities. (2) SAMHARA N was a decent pocket-sitting second upon arrival from Pocono and he draws well with the aggressive Holland getting the drive; he'll be forwardly placed again. (5) KINGSVILLE dropped from the age-restricted Open to this level last week and was a rallying third; he figures to land another good piece of this tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) STRIKING IMPACT took a major drop in class last week and was a solid 1:51 1/5 winner, beating #1 in the process. Bako trainee doesn't face much tougher here and can repeat. (1) IGNATIUS A was 35 cents on the dollar when run over by the top choice; obviously he's more than capable of winning this, at a much better price. (3) GENIUS MAN has regained his form over his last two when he dropped down and he has plenty of class as well; he may get the first call off the gate. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts AE NW9 Pace (4) QUALITY BUD never had a realistic chance last week as he lingered near the back while the leader was walking the first half; veteran gets major class relief and a live effort is expected. (1) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK also drops in class, moves all the way inside and has controlling speed. (5) PACE N PRIDE N has taken three straight on the front end but he faces better here and Brennan opted off; not sure he can make the front but the sharp pacer may sneak through the back door to hit the ticket. Race 4: NW15151 in last 5 starts AE NW9 Pace (4) WALKINSHAW N was loaded with pace in the late stages last week to narrow the gap on the heavy favorite and run second. Classy veteran does have tactical speed to get into play early and is way overdue for a win. (5) SECOND BRUISER held pretty well after being uncovered in the same race as the top choice and that's two good efforts since arriving from Canada to join the Engblom barn. (3) NIGHT HAWK is an interesting 4-year-old who folded after aggressive handling in his first seasonal start for Bongiorno; he'll be off the pace here and that's probably his preferred trip. Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace (6) DELIGHTFUL TERROR finished fast two back, his first race for the DiDomenico barn after being claimed for $40K. Last week he had no chance out of the eight hole, but he moves back to claimers here and meets a wide-open and tough-to-figure field. Maybe he can be on the scene late at a price if the leaders falter. (4) POINTOMYGRANSON stays at the same level off last week's claim and he goes for four straight. He looks like the logical favorite, but can he maintain his form for new connections? (5) DIVISION BELL steps up off a fast close to nail the free-wheeling leader last start and he's another that will be a late threat. Race 6: NW75021 in last 5 starts Pace (3) DEETZY has back class and now gets to drop and move to a more appealing post, plus leading driver Bartlett is back in the bike. Blumenfeld trainee is probably the one to catch. (5) B LIKE CRUISER also drops to a more competitive level and picks up Gingras. (2) JIM BLUE was a willing third last week to a couple of runaway rivals; he can finish in the money again with a smooth trip. Race 7: $30,000 Claiming Pace (3) CHANGE STRIDE N was put on the front end in his first start off the Engblom claim but was grinded down by the very game Pinebush Lifesaver; 12-year-old faces some camera-shy competition tonight and deserves top billing. (1) BRACKLEY BEACH lands the rail and I'm sure Braxton Boyd will be looking to protect position off the gate; he may end up in the pocket and hopefully for his backers he won't be trapped in. (4) CONBOYVILLE goes for Berkeley now and picks up Kakaley; he's got good speed but hasn't been able to seal the deal over his last few tries. Race 8: Open Handicap Pace, 1-3, 4-6 drawn (4) SPEED MAN N is always in the hunt and always offers good value; Brennan picks up the drive as listed driver Bartlett opts for #1 and he figures to be leaving the gate as usual. (6) LEONIDAS A was sent to the front last week and rated an easy half but still couldn't hold off the raging winner. We know he's more than capable of winning here and will offer an improved price. (5) CAPTIVATE HANOVER has been huge for the Garcia-Herrera barn and he was the one who rolled over #6 last week; goes for three straight. Race 9: NW30000 in last 5 starts AE Opt $75K Clm Pace (1) CERTIFIABLE has raced well enough to win in most of his recent tries and tonight he lands in a spot where it appears he can control the action; top billing. (5) ON ACCIDENT was in too tough a spot in last week's Open but aside from that he's been super. (7) SPLASH BROTHER also drops from the Open ranks, and was a close-up third in his last try. Schnittker trainee moves outside but does have early speed. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW21281 in last 5 starts AE NW10 Pace (2) BURNHAM BOY N returns locally on the strength of two consecutive solid front-end wins at Philly and he is written into this class, where he seems to fit nicely. Ryder trainee will likely be on or near the lead. (5) HECANDANCENCRUISE wasn't much of a factor last week with Lasix added but he did pick up a small share; this is a better spot to be more involved. (1) GREAT SOMEWHERE drops back down and gets much-needed post relief after being outside in his last four races; he's very logical here. Race 11: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace (4) THEFLYINGROCK hasn't done much in his last four races but five back he was a winner from a similar spot he finds tonight. Bartlett should he hustling this one off the gate. (1) COALITION HANOVER went coast-to-coast last week, his first for Laterza off the claim, and he draws the rail facing a mostly formless group. Deserving favorite. (2) LYONS PRIDE arrives from the Meadowlands off two huge wins for Nicole DiConstanzo (the last being a bit controversial); she's listed to drive but listen for any late changes.
