Yo Y Me held off the late run of Sneaky Meek to win the $30,000 Colorado Derby by a half-length on Sunday at Arapahoe Park. It was another head back in third to Way Out West. The Colorado Derby, which was run over 1 1/16 miles, was the fifth career stakes win for Yo Y Me. Yo Y Me ($3.60) broke well from post 10 and used his natural speed to take the lead through an opening quarter in 23.70 seconds. He proceeded to show the way through a half-mile in 47.77, relinquished his advantage to Way Out West through six furlongs in 1:13.03, then came back on that rival in the stretch. The eventual winner went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:48.76. Scott Stevens was aboard Yo Y Me for trainer Kevin Eikleberry, who co-owns the gelding in partnership with William Matthews and J. Lloyd Yother. Yo Y Me, a son of Dixie Chatter, was bred in Arizona by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm. He earned $18,000 for the win in the Colorado Derby, his sixth career victory from 11 starts. Yo Y Me has now earned $170,765. His previous stakes wins came at Turf Paradise: the Arizona Breeders’ Futurity, the ATBA Fall Sales Stakes, the Lost in the Fog Juvenile, and the Gene Fleming Breeders’ Derby.
