Email

Grade 3 winner and Florida-based freshman sire Yesbyjimminy was represented by his first winner from his first starter on Friday when Flay Mignon won her career debut by 2 3/4 lengths at Monmouth Park after making all the pace.

The dark bay or brown 2-year-old filly covered five furlongs in :58.19 for trainer Edward Plesa. The filly, homebred by Plesa’s wife Laurie, is out of the winning Forest Camp mare Forest Retreat.

Yesbyjimminy, a 9-year-old son of Yes It’s True, won 11 of 25 starts and earned $586,940 in four seasons of racing. He won seven stakes races, all at Calder, topped by the Grade 3 Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap for owner Trilogy Stable and trainer Plesa. Yesbyjimminy is out of the stakes-placed winning Pentelicus mare Sisters Creek and is a half-brother to multiple stakes winners Magic Mecke and A. J. Melini. He is also a full brother to Grade 2-placed winner Qureall.

Yesbyjimminy stands at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla., for an advertised fee of $2,500. He has 30 foals in his first crop.

That was a classy win. Too bad there aren't a lot of NJ Bred stakes races.
