Yeats remains undefeated

Yeats completed his preparations for the Epsom Derby with a 1 1/2-length victory over Relaxed Gesture in the Group 2 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown in Ireland on Sunday.

In extending his career unbeaten streak to three, Yeats was not hard pressed while leading throughout the 1 1/4-mile race. Sent off at 1-5 against just three rivals, Yeats was timed in 2:10.30 on ground labeled good to yielding. Yeats is currently the 11-4 favorite for the June 5 Epsom Derby, for which his main rival, American Post, will have his final prep at Longchamp on Sunday in the French 2000 Guineas.

York will be the scene of a major Derby prep on Wednesday when 10 go in the Group 2 Dante Stakes. Aidan O'Brien will saddle Moscow Ballet, second in last fall's Royal Lodge Stakes to Snow Ridge, the 2000 Guineas runner-up and Epsom Derby third choice.

Andean, scratched from last Friday's Dee Stakes by David Loder due to soft ground, is dangerous coming off a seven-length maiden score at Yarmouth, as is Let the Lion Roar, a Sadler's Wells half-brother to St. Leger winner Millenary.
