Yearly Report retired

Yearly Report, a five-time stakes winner, has been retired after suffering a suspensory injury in the Sunshine Millions Distaff last Saturday at Santa Anita.

Yearly Report finished sixth in the Sunshine Millions Distaff. She was the 4-5 favorite but never threatened the leaders.

Her retirement was announced on Wednesday. Owned and bred by Golden Eagle Farm and trained by Bob Baffert, Yearly Report will be bred to Gone West, according to the farm.

finished her career with six victories in 10 starts and earnings of $835,900.

Baffert said the suspensory injury was a recurrence of an injury that occurred after Yearly Report won the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico last May.

"She wrenched it last year," Baffert said. "It wasn't that bad. After the way she ran the other day, we knew there was something. We did another ultrasound and found a little hole. She would need four to six months off. You don't know if they'll come back."

Yearly Report won stakes ranging in distance from seven furlongs to 1 1/8 miles. Aside from the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, she won two other graded stakes: the Grade 2 Santa Ynez at Santa Anita in January 2004 and the Grade 2 Delaware Oaks over 1 1/16 miles in July 2004.
