Wrote, Duke of Mischief to stand in Florida


Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Wrote and multiple graded stakes winner Duke of Mischief will stand the 2014 breeding season at Northwest Stud near Ocala, Fla. Stud fees for both will be announced at a later date.

Irish-bred Wrote, a 4-year-old son of High Chaparral, retires with three wins from 11 starts for earnings of $815,943. Group 2 placed as a juvenile in Ireland, he successfully invaded the U.S. to capture the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs. He was multiple Group 2 placed the following season, including a third in the U.A.E. Derby.

Wrote is out of the Green Desert mare Desert Classic, dam of four winners from four starters.

Duke of Mischief, a 7-year-old Graeme Hall horse, bankrolled $1,905,747 while winning seven of 30 starts. He captured the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap in 2010, along with the Ft. Lauderdale Stakes and Philip H. Iselin Stakes, both Grade 3 events. In 2011, he added a fourth graded triumph by taking the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic, defeating Game On Dude and Tizway. In all, he won or placed in 10 stakes events.

Out of the winning Real Courage mare My Lady Amelia, Duke of Mischief is a half brother to Grade 3 winner Lord Robyn. My Lady Amelia is a half sister to Belgian Horse of the Year Yakousa.
