Wrong-way horse causes no contest at Hastings

The fifth race at Hastings on Sunday was declared a no contest after Hes No Clark Gable dropped jockey Freddy Manrigue just after leaving the starting gate in the two-turn sprint for bottom-level maidens,  and ran the wrong way around the track. Although he was running on the outside of the track, some jockeys in the race understandably pulled up their horses when Hes No Clark Gable came into contact with the field approaching the three-eighths pole.

All wagers directly on the race were refunded and every horse was declared a winner in any multiple-race wagers.

Manrique was uninjured and rode the last race on the card.
