Woodward: Havre de Grace gets a work in

Havre de Grace is scheduled to meet males in the Woodward.

After having had a scheduled Monday workout canceled because of track-related issues at Delaware Park, the Larry Jones-trained Havre de Grace was able to blow out three furlongs in 35.60 seconds at Delaware on Tuesday in preparation Saturday’s Woodward Stakes.

“It was important,” owner Rick Porter said about getting a work in before the race. “There were problems with the equipment getting the track ready; they finally got it into good enough condition for Larry to go ahead and work her. He just blew her out three-eighths. We got off schedule, like probably most of the horses in this race.”

Porter said Tuesday that Jones hadn’t decided whether to ship Havre de Grace to Saratoga on Wednesday or Thursday.
