Woodbine: Uncaptured has options for next start

Michael Burns
Uncaptured, Canada’s 2012 horse of the year, likely will run next in either the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational or the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes.

Uncaptured, Canada’s reigning horse of the year and champion 2-year-old male, breezed five furlongs in 1:01.60 at Churchill Downs on Friday.

Mark Casse, who conditions Uncaptured for John Oxley, has nominated the colt to Monmouth’s 1 1/8-mile Haskell, a Grade 1 race worth $1 million scheduled for July 28, and to Fort Erie’s $500,000 Prince of Wales, a 1 3/16-mile race for Canadian-breds on July 30. Casse will confer with Oxley before making a decision.

Uncaptured most recently finished second, beaten a head, in the Grade 3, 1 1/16-mile Matt Winn at Churchill Downs on June 15.

Dynamic Sky, third in the Queen’s Plate for Casse and Oxley, and his stablemate Jagger M, fifth there for owner Gabe Grossberg, are probable starters for the Prince of Wales.
