Ultimate Destiny, with Eurico Rosa Da Silva aboard, wins the Bunty Lawless Stakes by a neck Sunday.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The favored Ultimate Destiny wore down a game Pender Harbour in the stretch en route to a neck score in the $125,400 Bunty Lawless Stakes at Woodbine on Sunday.

Pender Harbour set quick fractions in the 1 1/16-mile Polytrack route, which was taken off the soggy turf course. Ultimate Destiny circled four wide into contention on the far turn and caught Pender Harbour inside the eighth pole before completing the distance in a rapid 1:43.03.

The 3-year-old San Nicola Thunder finished a distant third in the nine-horse field of Ontario-sired runners.

Eurico Rosa Da Silva rode Ultimate Destiny, the 124-pound co-highweight.

“He’s very easy to ride,” Da Silva said. “He’s not easy inside the gate, but after that, he’s okay. He had a great trip and tried very hard.”

Ultimate Destiny ($6.30) banked $75,000 for owner and trainer Alec Fehr.

happy retirement to fifty proof, had i known they were going to retire him. I would have gone to the track today.

Good to see Pender Harbour dig in when Ultimate Destiny passed him, who wasn't going to give up that lead, but I liked seeing Pender Harbour come back.
