Woodbine: Thursday 10/4 Analysis

Best Bet: GARETH NOURIR (8th)    Spot: TOOCOOL FORSCHOOL (3rd)

Race 1

(8) ALEXANDRIA AS is going to get top billing for me in here. It looks like trainer/driver MacDonald has found the key to success for this youngster. (6) MARS FLYER is winless this season from seven starts, but has finished second multiple times. This is not a deep field of horses. (4) TYMAL SONATA is winless in 20 starts this season, but has been racing much better in her last two starts.

Race 2

(4) OK FEISTY came from well off the pace last week to finish a strong fourth. She will likely be the post time favorite and is due for a win. (8) OLIVIA V closed like a freight train last week. She can only improve off that first-time effort. (6) NATURAL INSTINCT provided a solid first-time effort on this circuit. I can’t see him getting away ninth again from post six.

Race 3

(9) TOOCOOL FORSCHOOL made a costly break last week, but has proven to be very competitive at this level. He won the Simcoe Stakes two starts ago against North America’s finest rookie trotters. He should be able to handle non-winners of two. (2) LA BELLA CONTESSA has been racing very well in her last two starts. It appears that she’s rounding into form. (7) O U SEXY GUY has one win from 21 starts this season, but she’s been frequently hitting the board.

Race 4

(5) CONQUER THE BEACH has won three straight and makes her return to Woodbine. Coleman’s .400-plus training average cannot be overlooked. (4) UPFRONTWHOSURLADY has serious ability and was put on the front for the first time last week and it proved successful. (8) INSIDE SCOOP is another starter that MacDonald will send out tonight. This horse showed an impressive qualifier and when he behaves himself, is a serious threat.

Race 5

(5) SHES MACHS DELIGHT was my top pick last week and it provided a healthy return. I’m looking for a similar trip in here from Davis, Jr. (8) PALM PATROL went a tough trip last week from post 10, but draws a little better. He enters the Fine barn, which is never a bad thing. (6) ALBANIAN ERA surprised me last week with her effort and provided value. You might get it again in this field and it appears she’s rounding into form.

Race 6

It appears Lasix really helped (2) STURDY AS A HALL in her last start. That was a big effort and if she can repeat that, I feel she’s a top contender in this field. (7) TWIN B SENSATION knows how to find the winner’s circle and moves to the big track. I’m not sure if she can win, but I wouldn’t count her out. (5) STORMONT FRIED has been knocking on the door in her last three starts and showing credible times.

Race 7

(7) WINDSUN T BIRD might be a bit of a longshot, but she’s got a solid 2012 record and has posted seven wins. She’s certainly capable of winning at this level. (4) MISTYS ART has posted just one victory this season, but this is a very light field of horses and she draws inside at the bottom class. (6) GOT THE MUNCHIES is making a big move up in class, but Johnson’s training record speaks for itself. I’d be worried if she wasn’t on my ticket.

Race 8

(9) GARETH NOURIR is being put in a class where she will likely be the post time favorite. She won at this level last start and is the horse to beat in my opinion. (5) RUBADUB HANOVER got tired late in the stretch last week. I wasn’t impressed with his final quarter and he’s inconsistent at times, but I can’t leave him out. (3) GUINESS SEELSTER is making the move to this circuit after a pair of victories. He won in 1:53 and change at Georgian and that should make him a top contender at this level.

Race 9

(4) ALIBI TERROR is once again going to be my top pick in here. She has gotten better as the season as progressed and she might offer value in this field. (2) JONNIE MACH seems like a chancy wager. It looks like she’s only on her game when she’s near the front. I’m going to dismiss last week’s effort and hope she’s in the mix early. (9) GREYSTONE LADYLIKE captured this event last week and offered terrific value. I’m not sure if she can do it again, but I’m going to include her on my ticket.

(5) DEUCE MAN hasn’t won in five starts, but has a solid 2012 campaign. He will likely offer value in this low class. (1) PRIVATE EQUITY has a solid season to date and finished a strong second last week at this level. He has been very consistent as of late. (7) JETTISON posted his first victory of the season last week. It looks like he’s turning his game around.

Race 11

(3) BARN ART was my top pick last week and didn’t find racing room until late in the mile. He’ll likely be the post time favorite and he deserves to be. (1) WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN is a horse that you can never count out at this class. He’s a very competitive claimer and has been given post one. He’s a ‘must have’ on your ticket. (10) SF TERRIFIC KISSER proved last week that he’s competitive at this level. I hope he’s put into position in the early going.
