Woodbine: Soundtrack rallies

Email

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Soundtrack came from far back to collar Libretto in the final strides and win her first stakes in the $145,600 Ontario Colleen Handicap at Woodbine.

Soundtrack trailed the 10-horse field early in the one-mile turf event for 3-year-old fillies. Dreams Go Bye set fractions of 23.26 and 46.01 seconds over the good ground while being tracked by Serena's Tune.

Soundtrack commenced her rally on the turn, and was angled widest for the stretch drive by Gary Boulanger. Libretto hit the front inside the eighth pole, but came up a half-length short of a charging Soundtrack, who stopped the timer in 1:37.26.

Skipping Stone was another 2 1/4 lengths back in third, while Poetically, last year's champion 2-year-old filly, finished fourth. Love and Marry, part of the favored entry with Libretto, was ninth.

Soundtrack ($12.90) picked up $95,520 for owner John Storer and trainer Mike Doyle.
