Seaside Retreat wins the $140,950 Display Stakes at Woodbine on Saturday.

Seaside Retreat furnished a strong wide rally two furlongs from home to win the $140,950 Display Stakes by 3 3/4 lengths for red-hot trainer Mark Casse and owner William S. Farish.

A 2-year-old son of King Cugat out of Shes Like Rio, Seaside Retreat settled far off the pace set by longshots Louie Nekia and Bridgecut before launching a four-wide bid on the turn and blowing past for an easy score as the 3-1 third choice.

Ridden by Patrick Husbands, Seaside Retreat kept Ports N Porsches well behind him in second with Bridgecut holding for third, a half-length behind.

Edenwold, the 2-1 favorite, finished evenly for fifth, 5 1/2 lengths behind the winner. Edenwold is the leading contender for Sovereign Award honors for champion 2-year-old male by virtue of three stakes wins.

Seaside Retreat, a two-time winner who finished third in the Grey Breeders' Cup Stakes on Oct. 10, was making his fourth career start in the Display.

"I was surprised he got beat in the Grey Stakes," said Casse. "I liked seeing everyone battle up front. He's a really good horse, and he trains like a real good horse."

Seaside Retreat ran the 1 1/16 miles in a sharp 1:43.90 and paid $8.60. The colt boosted his career earnings to $192,963.
