Woodbine: Saturday 10/13 Analysis

Best Bet: KODAK LINDY (8th)    Spot Play: STAR PHOTO (5th)

Race 1

(5) ROCINANTE has tailed off as of late, but is certainly due for a win. He's a much better horse than he's shown. (6) MY MAN CHARLEY has been knocking on the door in his last two starts on this circuit. He draws much better also. (8) ROCK SOLID will need to improve his performance, but he was simply too far back last start.

Race 2

(1) PET ROCK is getting a start before the Crown. He possesses terrific gate-speed and will begin from post one. (5) OK COMMANDER was flying at the end of the mile, but rain out of real estate. He offered value last week and he might again. (4) DALHOUSIE DAVE should be a threat in this short field.

Race 3

(7) IVE GOT IT ALL drops down in class again, but has shown 1:54 speed not many starts ago. If he can regain form than he's a top contender in this race. (3) ASALTANDBATTERY will debut for new connections and I think this horse will appreciate this track. He's got terrific gate-speed and begins from a good post. I hope he behaves himself. (5) CLEOPATRE DUHARAS had some time off and looks fresh and ready to go after his third-place finish last week. He hasn't won yet this year, but that could change.

Race 4

(8) ROCK CAMROLLER gets class relief after a pair of credible performances. I'm not sure what type of odds you will get on him, but he's a good play. (1) SMOKEYS LUCK makes another jump in class after three-straight wins. He's on a roll and that could continue in here. (7) ALED HANOVER went a tough trip last start and should get a cleaner raceline in here. He loves to come from off-the-pace.

Race 5

(3) STAR PHOTO is getting major class relief and I feel he'll benefit off that. Moreau always has his horses ready and he's due to win. (7) THE PRINCIPLE is winless this year from 15 starts, but draws better than last week and is due to step up his game. He's been inconsistent this season. (4) SIR WINSTON returns to the level where he finished third and draws inside. You might get value on him.

Race 6

(4) SILVER EAGLE drops down in class and has been showing some terrific miles. He won at a higher-level three starts back. (5) STATE TREASURER was my top pick last week after finishing second. He will likely offer low odds. (8) IDEAL CHOICE gets major class relief, which he will appreciate. He may even be your post time favouite. He's a great play depending on the value.

Race 7

(8) SARANDON BLUE CHIP has been inconsistent this season while competing against Grand Circuit fillies. This will be her prep race before the Breeders Crown. It will interesting to see how she handles the older mares. When she's on her game, she's the best in here. (10) VOELZ HANOVER begins from post 10, but that doesn't bother me. I don't think there is a horse in the field that can out leave her. She gets class relief in here. (2) WARRAWEE KOINEalso drops down in class and should be a major threat at

Race 8

(6) KODAK LINDY gets my top selection in here mainly because of his 1:53 3/5 winning effort last start. Any type of repeat effort like that and he should be the winner. (1) FALCOR BLUESTONE will need to step up his game to be a top threat in here. I wouldn't count him out because he's won at this level just two starts ago. (9) SHE WEARS IT WELL is a good choice if you get value. She's racing against the boys with an outside post.

Race 9

(5) PLAY AT WYNN has posted two-straight wins and is back in the same class. She gets off the gate well and begins from a good post. She'll likely be your post time favourite. (3) JENNA CASIMIR was a vet scratch lame last start after the post parade. Depending how she looks on the track, I'd play her. (6) EXQUISITE ALBERTA is always a threat at this level. She always appears to hit the board and be a factor.

Race 10

(1) MAJOR HOTTIE drops back down in class and has been blessed with post one. He loves to get off the gate so I'm expecting him to be on the front and control the race. (7) UPFRONT HOOSIERBOY posted two solid wins elsewhere and will look to win again on this circuit. He also has good gate-speed. He's been rounding into form lately. (4) KYLE MAJOR has been a victim of inconsistency this season, but is always a threat at this level. You might even get value on him.

Race 11

(1) ORSE POWER is always a good play when he's put in the mix early. He's at a level which I think he can handle. He's got post one to work with and I hope Vanderkemp makes the most of it. (5) REBEL JET will likely leave the gate hard for MacDonell. He's got just two wins this season, but is top three quite often. (6) HIDDEN POTENTIAL has been racing well his last two starts and has had a solid 2012 campaign. If you get value on him like his last two starts, he's worth a shot.

Race 12

(6) MODERN XHIBIT is at a level where he's extremely competitive. He'll likely be the post time favourite and deserves to be. (2) THE RIDDLER is my pick for second based on his two-straight wins. He enjoys tracking down horses and can control his own trip from post two. (10) IN COMMANDO begins from new trainer Lindsey has been very competitive at the Grassroots level all season. The only downfall is his post 10 start as he doesn't show terrific gate-speed.
