Original Script wins the Bison City Stakes by a length with Jesse Campbell aboard Sunday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The favored Original Script led the way and then held off a charging Smartyfly to notch her first stakes victory Sunday at Woodbine in the $250,000 Bison City, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara.

With Jesse Campbell aboard, Original Script set soft fractions of 25.19 seconds, 50.24, and 1:15.10 in the 1 1/16-mile route for Canadian-bred 3-year-old fillies. Smartyfly rallied along the rail and then took dead aim at Original Script, who held sway and got home on top by a length in 1:45.09. Strut the Course rallied belatedly for third in the seven-horse field.

“Good horses make good things happen,” Campbell said. “Obviously, we were happy with the pace. She was very calm today. She’s grown up mentally. She ran a great race.”

Original Script ($4.20) collected $150,000 for Chiefswood Stable, which will send out Woodbine Oaks winner Nipissing in the July 7 Queen’s Plate.
