One Smooth Ride ($21.40) closed strongly in the stretch under jockey Constant Montpellier to capture the $137,500 at Woodbine.

One Smooth Ride came from last in the five-horse field, but was never more than five lengths off the pace in the 1 1/16-mile event for 2-year-olds. Accountforthegold set fractions of 23.29 and 47.81 seconds before being joined on the lead by Radical Right, favored Kerrobert, and The Finagler, who had bumped Kerrobert hard on the first turn while rank.

The Finagler took control on the far turn, but Accountforthegold came back on along the inside to take a clear lead early in the stretch, at which point One Smooth Ride was in the midst of a four-wide rally. One Smooth Ride collared Accountforthegold at the sixteenth pole, then drew off for a 3 3/4-length win in a final time of 1:47.92.

Radical Right was second, ending up 1 1/2 lengths clear of third-place finisher Accountforthegold. March With Me and Enough is Enough were scratched.

One Smooth Ride earned $82,500 in his first stakes triumph for trainer Dave Cotey, who owns him in partnership with Hugh Galbraith and Derek Ball.

* Dave the Knave ($6.90) remained unbeaten in two starts with a hard-fought neck score over Out From Africa in Saturday's supporting feature, the Sunny's Halo Stakes.

Steven Bahen rode Dave the Knave, who completed 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:17.96 in the $104,000 race for Canadian-foaled 2-year-olds.
