ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Never Retreat, returning to the scene of her score in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly on Aug. 13,  pressed the pace of longshot Woolly Bear and took over around the final turn en route to a half-length victory here at Woodbine in Sunday’s Grade 2, $300,000 Canadian Stakes for fillies and mares.

Stars to Shine, competitive throughout after breaking from the outside post, ended a length behind the runner-up in third with Fantasia another half-length back as the fourth-place finisher.

Zagora, favored at 3-1, wound up a non-threatening seventh.

Never Retreat returned $15.50 and keyed an exacta  payoff of $318.70, a trifecta  of $5,464.10, and a superfecta of $23,617.50.
