ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Moonlit Beauty ($19.30) won the $126,200 Classy ‘n Smart Stakes for the second year in a row under David Moran at Woodbine on Sunday.

Moonlit Beauty ($19.30) was unchallenged while setting a pedestrian pace in the 1 1/16-mile route for Ontario-sired fillies and mares. She opened up a three-length lead on the far turn and then coasted home on top by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:45.13.

Silent Star finished second at 10-1 in her first attempt around two turns. I’m a Kittyhawk beat out second choice Reconnect for third, and the favored Bear’s Gem was a non-threatening fifth in the 11-horse field.

Trained by John LeBlanc Jr., Moonlit Beauty earned $75,000 for owner and breeder William Gierkink.

“She was really tough today,” Moran said. “In fairness, John gave me perfect instructions. He told me what to do at every pole, and everything I did, she responded to it.”
