Fashion Frenzie became the co-fastest trotter in Canadian harness racing history on Monday night at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Shooting up the inside to win the $36,000 Preferred trot, Fashion Frenzie stopped the clock in 1:50 2/5 to match the all-age Mohawk and Canadian record for driver Louis-Philippe Roy and trainer Eric Nadeau. It was the second time in three nights that the all-age record was matched, as Emoticon Legacy also trotted 1:50 2/5 in Saturday's Goodtimes Stakes final for 3-year-olds. Osceola cut the mile on Monday, posting fractions of 26 4/5, 55 3/5 and 1:23 2/5. Fashion Frenzie enjoyed a two-hole trip, while 3-5 favorite Gaines Hanover sat fourth throughout. In the stretch, the rail would open up and Fashion Frenzie powered through late to win by three-quarters of a length over Osceola. Gaines Hanover got up for third, beaten just over a length. The latest victory gave him 30 career scores and lowered his career mark by two-fifths of a second. A career winner of over C$1.3 million, Fashion Frenzie is owned by Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Gestion Mario Bourgea Inc., Pierre Guillemette and Sylvain Richard. A $2 win ticket on Fashion Frenzie returned $25.70. Fashion Frenzie joins Emoticon Legacy, Gaines Hanover, Alrajah One and Atlanta as the co-fastest trotters in Canadian racing.
